That's weird. How come crysis is not benefitting from quad-core vs. dual-core? Or is there something I'm missing from this CPU/GPU benchmark thingy.... hmm.gif

If that's true, then Crysis is weak when it's not using the processor to the maximum.

Just my 4cents. blush.gif

It's probably just GPU limited. That's why the differences are so small.

Extra core is idle? then what is the usage of quad core sweat.gif
In between, benchmark of quad core processor should be higher than dual core rclxub.gif

yaya.. agree. The different within dual core and Quad core is really small ..

How the crysis test with? sad.gif

^ They represent Framerates Per Second (FPS)

Yeah, the higher it is, the better. In this case, higher framerates = faster, smoother gameplay.

Back to the benchmark..

Does it mean that...uh.. an ultra powerful rig is required for crysis @_@?! T_T bocor poket.

IF u want to know the requirement, this is it..

Windows XP:

· CPU: Intel P4 2.8 GHz / AMD Athlon 2800+ / Intel Core 2.0 GHz
or higher

· RAM: 1.0 GB

· Hard Drive: 6 GB or more of free space

· Video: NVIDIA 6800 GT 256 MB / ATI 9800 Pro or better

· Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Windows Vista:

· CPU: Intel P4 3.2 GHz / AMD Athlon 3200+ / Intel Core 2.2 GHz
or higher

· RAM: 1.5 GB

· Hard Drive: 6 GB or more of free space

· Video: NVIDIA 6800 GT 256 MB / ATI X800 Pro 256 MB or better

· Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

But if you want to run Crysis at hi resolution with very hi graphic setting, then yes.. an ultra powerfull rig is required brows.gif

Their requirement is quite high in this game,my old skool P4 can barely handle it only. sweat.gif But my GC is total out from the requirement.

So the benchmarks test both the CPU and GPU? Or can they test the CPU and GPU separately. If you look at their crysis website, they claim that each core will improve the framerates somewhat, something like 10-15% for each core, if I remember correctly.... Of course, in real world, the improvement wouldn't be that linear/proportional....

The lead designer of Crysis did say that Quad Core will be essential to gameplay.

One thing i can deduce is simply they're playing it like Valve during the TF2 beta where all the other bugs are sorted out first and only then will multithreading be applied when the build is stable enough and generally out of the beta scope. Of course we also must remember that processor power is needed as the number of opponents and physics objects increases, so benchmarking run numbers will also very much rely on the level you're testing it in.

If the demorun was made in a graphically intensive firefight with only 2 enemies....well, don't expect the performance advantage to show.

maybe the demo don't utilize the quad core? But the full retail?Or even the patch later that will upgrade it?

Huhu...Like to see the 8800GT OC version counter in this.Or the new 65nm version of 8800GTX.

Ya the demo doesnt utilise Quads for sure. I look at my G15 LCD while playing the demo n it shows only about 20-30% utilisation. Cant wait for the retail version to make full use of Quads n SLI.

That explains the Phenom's score.

So it doesn't scale that well in X2... get a C2D.
For quads however we'll see.

It might just be a case of Intel loving code- not the first time we're seeing it (UT3)
