i have 2 hp laptop but i accidentally mixed up the charger

i dont know which is for which now

can i just cross use them? are they compatible with each other? both are intel i5 laptop. their charge head also same.

one has wattage 65 w written on it, the other has no info on wattage, but has this info input 100-240v ~ 1.5A 50/60hz, output 19.5v ~ 3.33A

19.5 x 3.33 = 65w looool , so its the same?

Yeah basically voltage match = good, wattage higher = more tolerance = better.

First if we talk about traditional charger, it will be fine as long
1. Voltage is same with original one
2. Ampere is higher with original one

If we talk about USB-C charger (most laptop now switch to USB-C), you need your laptop itself support which wattage combination mode. For example 45Watt might have
a.) 15V @ 3A
b.) 20V A 2.25A

Yes, it's the same specifications on both Adapter.

As long as the barrel jack able to fit, then should not be any problems.

Hope it helps... cool2.gif

Yeah, it sounds like you should be fine using either charger as long as the connectors fit. I had a similar situation with my HP laptops and chargers, and as long as the voltage and amps match, it should work. The wattage calculation you did checks out too. Just double-check that the connectors are in good shape and fit snugly.

You should be good to go with either charger, honestly. I’ve done the same thing with my HP laptops before, and they both worked fine. The one with 65W is a little lower, but the other one (19.5V, 3.33A) adds up to 65W too, so they're pretty much the same. Just double-check the voltage and connector size to make sure they fit, but you should be fine either way.

HP 6th gen and 5th gen used different sized plugs.

Example is the EliteBook 840 G2 and 840 G3. The former used a larger plug while the latter used a smaller plug. To charge both laptops, get the docking bay.

My Latitudes and Precisions all used the same E series docking bay to charge. I bought a few last time because the suppliers were throwing them out.

ThinkPads also same. However, each dock only compatible up to 2 generations.

A T420 dock can be used up to X230 and a T440 dock can be used up to T450.

These days, just buy any laptop with Type C port to use any 65W charger from other brands.

Example is my ThinkPad T590 and Latitude 7390. Both used the same 65W Type C charger. So, I only carry 1 charger for trips. The same charger can also charge the phone and tablet.

I’ve had a similar issue before with mixing up laptop chargers, and as long as the voltage (19.5V) is the same, you’re usually fine. The one with the 3.33A output just means it can provide a bit more current if needed, but your laptop will only pull what it needs, so it’s not a problem. I’ve swapped chargers like this in the past with no issues. Just make sure the connectors match, and you should be good to go.

All depend on laptop input required, check mark on back of your laptop see how much laptop your power required. for example you can backward compatible your high output charger such as use 330W charger (19.5V 16.9A) on laptop that was required 230W (19.5V 11.8A) or 180W (19.5V 9.23A) even 90W (19.5V 3.34A) input laptop without cause laptop performance penalty on laptop by auto switch to battery with charger charge on battery or shutdown. For my advice absolutely not recommended use low wattage charger brick such as use 65w or 90w charger output by plugin to high power input laptop especially gaming laptop that required 180W or 230w or even higher as use low power charger brick on high input laptop will cause laptop performance penalty even will cause use on your laptop battery more often and frequently as charger no enough power provided for laptop and will switch to battery automatically and continually charge on battery on background and will cause hot on your laptop battery and this will cause shortage on laptop battery health lifespan or even bloat on your laptop battery faster.
