This is what is commanded from Allah:

Quran 5:33

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and spread mischief in the land is death, crucifixion, cutting off their hands and feet on opposite sides, or exile from the land. This ˹penalty˺ is a disgrace for them in this world, and they will suffer a tremendous punishment in the Hereafter.

I agreed with you, as a non-Muslim, when I read the verse Megatronika posted and linked it to the socks situation, it give me an impression that Islam is an intolerant religion where killing other is justified not matter how small an incident is, or if it's just an accident and have no ill intend as it can be viewed as an act of war towards Islam.

This might cause people to have Islamophobia as they can be killed even they made a small mistake. Since mistake is unavoidable, I will not risk it and never interact with Muslim at all for my safety.

I'm sure Islam is not like that.
