There are a lot of factors that will affect the price. For example, is the homeowner asking for only 1 fan to be installed? I doubt an electrician will travel to a customer house, bring down their tools, install one fan, pack up clean up and then go home for less than RM80. But you add in other paid work and the per unit install price may be lower.

Understand this - there is no Electrician Association that sets a price for work; everything depends on your negotiation skill.

------
Now for me.... if you pandai interact, treat me like a person instead of your bangla PATI, and you sweetly ask "stormer.lyn, can please hang one curtain for me, if it is not too troublesome?" (after I have finished the work of installing 10 lights @ RM18 each and 2 fans @ RM 60 each <- see, pricing is fluid) for sure I will do free of charge. I'll even bring out the laser to make sure the curtain is straight and level.

But rudely demand me to install the curtain because you have already given me some lights and fans to install will result in a price of RM 250.

It all depends on you. You definitely won't get a good price if you are arrogant and obnoxious. I speak for myself only, but I am pretty sure it is universal that if you are nice to people, they'll be nice back to you.

Don't worry, I am not upset that a stranger makes a comment that is critical of me! tongue.gif Apologies that it sounds like I was upset. (Reading back it does sound a bit like a rant so ... oops?)

You're right about kumpul all the jobs and then do one shot. That's the correct way to do it. TS should actually hire a handyman for the day at maybe RM 250 - RM 350, instead of pricing each task individually

Actually the pricing depends on the volume of work. If the total is less than RM200, some of the contractors won't want to come. To those Chinese bosses, they claimed they need to pay RM50 - RM 80 to get their foreign labour to go to the site. After adding their salaries, any business less than RM 300 they are not keen.

Correct. There is a minimum charge (unless its your neighbour who's staying in the same apartment) else its not worth taking up the job just to change one lightbulb for RM10.
