I have used both at work. T series is for everyday carry here and there and mostly office work.

P series is similar to gaming laptop but office version of hardware. Weight also closer to that.

So far my staff using the p series only thing is complain battery life and weight. Which is to be expected. My T series only problem is if I occasionally start light data processing for an hour, the laptop thermals a bit.....weak.

As a student I think either one will do. Your heaviest workload would be dota anyway.......
