Nowadays there are so many new ceiling fan brands in the market like alpha, rezo, deka, silenz n others .

Kdk and Panasonic are still the less problematic brand ?

Any recommendation for better reliability and less problem ?

Just sharing my experience. When I bought an apartment 9 years ago, ceiling fans that I bought, all KDK, the remote type. The most used ones (Living Room & Master Bedroom) slowed down on 8th year. Change the capacitor (hire 3rd party to do), both fans run fast again. Still good for another few years i think.

Basic fan is just coil capacitor and wall rheostat controller are all the same. No matter what brand, the capacitor will normally go out first. This is due to voltage surge normally. It is less than RM10 part.

More complex one is using remote controller with or with or timer. This has more electronics and more chance components on board to fail including the capacitor above.

The 3rd type is the one with DC speed controller. More quiet, more precise speed control and I think more energy saving (well fan power is not much anyway I believe).

For me, the 1st type can just buy any brand. the 2nd and the 3rd one, chose any known brand. If the board failed, you can easily find on Lazada or Shopee for replacement board. It is usually < than RM100.

Now it is more about how much you want to send on it.

Are there ceiling DC motor fans with wall controller. All my remote controlled fans have failed controllers, not worth it imo but kdk/national rheostat fans still working well, capacitors also not changed for many decades, just need some silicone lube after decades.

Alpha Iriz DC Motor 56' here....

Performance, design all acceptable but I realize the fan got humming sound. Anyone experience the same thing?

At first I tot people doing nyamuk fogging outside but actually my fan. Now I can't barely hear it because the humming frequencies registered to my brain but I'm sure other people can hear it clearly once sit close to the fan.

I know that such product existed because in the West wall control is still popular, In Malaysia, it looks like people like remote control. Maybe you need to pay more for the one that can use apps on the phone to control. Now everything is WiFi. laugh.gif

I changed the capacitor for my fan once, bought the caps and soldered. I'm not a pro, so it took me a long time to unsolder the old caps and redo. total cost below RM20. Worth my time ? Nope.

Do you have the contact for the 3rd party to do it and how much he charged you?

Replacement PCB for Alpha costs around RM120 4 years back. If someone can change the caps for 1/2 the price I might just ask someone to do it.

You can whatsapp the number and follow the instructions once the staff replied and set appointment for them to come over to your house.

They charged me RM90 per fan. I recall the duration to repair around 15-20 mins per fan

At first I thought of replacing the fans altogether but when I saw such service, triggered me to give it a try. At the end, RM90/fan is not bad at all. Fans got back up to speed.

KDK is my go to option in Singapore.

In Australia, I don't bother with ceiling fans - all use pedestal fans

Went to few lighting shops, all salesman recommended rm4xx and above alpha n they even said cheap stuff does not come with good quality.
So if you want long lasting better buy expensive model.

So I think I will just grab kdk cheaper AC model for piece of mind.

Not really. But their 42" easier to install if u alr have a hook ready. KDK baby fan is bit complicated.

KDK RM4xx model (Vtouch Jr or Sensa 4) still the best reliability.

That is really .... outstanding! At least you tried first, and then you can now decide for sure if you want to do it again with the experience. rclxms.gif

yg brand dari China tu byk jugak yg murah..tp x confident to beli la sbb if rosak..nak hantar kat mana pulak utk repair..
also ckp je ada warranty tapi bila dah rosak..suruh hantar balik utk repair..kos hantar balik tu mahal jugak..
sbb tu la sy suggest bestie utk beli KHIND sbb ada warranty dan service center kat KL..senang nak hantar utk svs

Warranty on motor is useless tbh. Very rare motor will rosak.
That is why manufacturers dare to warranty so long. Also warranty on parts only u still need to pay technician fee.
If rosak is bad luck lol.

Yea this one jimat 50% bcs ada BLDC motor which also allows low noise operation so takdelah bunyi bising krek krek yang annoying tu. This model tak silap ada led light sekali, so nicelah 2 in 1, kipas dapat, lampu pun dapat. Warna pun macam2 ada, tak limit to white/black, so good option to those yang tengah cari kipas siling 😉

Panasonic and KDK. Have few Deka and the likes, the construction and design is garbage if you are the one who install them. Panasonic and KDK at most just the capacitor need change after few years. Simple aspect like wire gauge size, crimp, electronics routing, bolts and nuts size and quality, the mechanical built quality can't go close to Panasonic and KDK.
