Hey guys, im not 100% sure if this is the right place to ask but here is the thing;
My long serving laptop monitor has kaput and now I cannot see what happens when I turn it on. I tried to power ON laptop with the video cable connected to an external monitor but after waiting still no display (monitor goes into power saving mode).
I tried swapping between output VGA and HDMI neither seem to work.
Im well aware external monitors usually can be selected to display in Windows but is there a way to force it to boot display to the monitor instead?

Getting Started

|
Unker has this same problem but, manage to output the display to my new monitor. Trick is that you will need to power on the laptop with the display lid up like you would use the laptop normally, then the display can be output to the external monitor.

Look at the keyboard shortcuts. Some laptops need to press Fn+F7 for example. Read the manual and check.

Win + P will always bring up the windows select display screen
press tab once to select it and then go down once and press enter and hopefully you would have selected duplicate

Based on your description, the LCD on the laptop could be in good condition.
If the RAM of the laptop is removable then try re-seat the RAM or test with just one RAM at a time on both RAM slot.
