Q&A Car insurance renew early, New insurance start from?

Hello lowyatian,

I have a question here, my car 1st year insurance end on may this year.
My question is if i renew early let say this month do i get the 25% NCD?
and the new insurance it is start from the day i renew or it follow the date of my 1st insurance?

why not ask your insurance agent?

Afaik, you can only renew within 60 days of expiry, not too early. At least that's what my Honda panel insurance people told me.
It starts from the next day your existing insurance expires.

Not sure about the 25% ncd.

Usually they will assume that no insurance claim and increase the NCD. If anything happened and claim is done, they will sent letter to you asking you to pay additional to cover payment without NCD

You can renew 60 days from your next expiry date
New insurance cycle will start from the day after your expiry date
For the NCD, it depends on how soon the next NCD is updated in the system. If it is not updated, you can renew first and claim for the difference later

Well the SA who manage my car insurance it like " i got my commission for selling the car so you can play alone" attitude.

Nowadays everything is online, Why you need to do too much early. In fact you can just renew insurance and then renew road tax the same day just online smile.gif

Yeah
Online self do Insurance is 60 days before expiry
The next period is 25% auto
So the current 1st year, let say till 4 April, then the new one will start at 5th April 2024, and end at 4th April 2025, and the cost of the premium for that period is 25% discount off the normal price based on the coverage amount
