So I've chosen medical field as my main priority and i've stumbled upon biomedical engineer as my 2nd or 3rd choice. Anyone here doing this course? and which uni in australia is best for it? Thanks.
Biomedical engineering, anyone studying?

FYI,Medical and Biomedical engineering are totally different thing.....
medical is more to bio biomedic engineering is more to physics or engineering |

sure? biomedical engineering is the one who creates the machines, while biomedical science is the one who study more about bio(human)..

O.o yes i'm sure =D Biomed engineer is to handle machines in hosp, operation rooms, and oso to deal with scans, some create artificial things for human. Its combination of bio and phy to be exact ^^ dont worry, i've researched through it. Seems to be a growing field oso.

biomedical engineering is essentially treating a human body as a machine.
its more to do with engineering and maths modelling. modelling parts of bodies as if they are machines. QUOTE Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the application of principles and techniques from the physical and engineering sciences to medical and biological problems. Over the past 20 years, the biological sciences have experienced an "information explosion". Mathematical biology has an essential role to play in making sense of this vast amount of information, and the mathematical modelling carried out by Biomedical Engineers provides a method of integrating biophysical data which spans a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. What is happening when the blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked and the heart goes into cardiac arrest? What is happening in the branching airways of the lungs when a person experiences an asthma attack? How can problems of the stomach and intestines be detected without major invasive surgery? How do athletes stress their joints, such as knees, and how can this be prevented? These questions are just some of those which are addressed by Biomedical Engineers. Biomedical Engineering is an exciting subject which allows individuals to combine their skills in both mathematics and biology and apply them to clinical applications. i hope im not giving wrong info Added on October 30, 2007, 12:54 amhence, biomedical engineering is an engineering field. Then you also should know that the presumption that medical students are not usually good at numbers......or at least....switching from a field that has minimal math to maximun math is not always possible for many people to handle.

um.... that doesnt matter, i'm ok in maths or any other science subjects, and btw i'm just planning on it, its a choice as mentioned.
anyway no one is answerin my question so i assume no one is doing it =) nvm then, thread closed. This post has been edited by onelove89: Oct 30 2007, 09:21 AM |
