i stayed in aust previously and also visited multiple times before covid but the 1st time they asked for more document was at 2022 with my new passport. it got approved but i didn't manage to go.

when they reopened in 2022, suddenly 3/4 applicants get called for additional documents. In fact, it took up to 6-7 weeks to process in the beginning, and many missed important events like children's graduations, weddings etc.

now the processing is faster, most within a week. But still 3/4 applications get marked for further documents. The average worldwide in this category (601) for further documents processing is 2%.

If they remove us from the 601, we need to apply for the 600 like most of the rest of the world (Africa, india, Indon, China etc). Everybody submits documents, pay $190, and do medical examination if over 60.

Even my ex-SG colleague is sending his kid to study primary school in AU and he himself travels there few times a year.

But I suppose some prefer to work illegally in AU as some parts of AU cost of living still lower.
