Both are mostly made in India.
A lot of common issues arise with the usage of cheap cpu paste, overheating, etc.

I noticed those common problems are wiped out from the front page of web searches and replaced with fixable solutions (..duhh obviously fake).
If u dig a bit deeper in forums everybody is facing common issues, lots of em.

i'd stay away from phones made in india, or these 2 brand in particular.

Xiaomi 13 and Honor Magic 5, both are great phones, but Xiaomi 14 and Honor Magic 6 launching within next month, so suggest wait until next month for either newer model or clearance sales.

MediaTek nowadays not panas, but you need to understand which MediaTek processors not panas.

MediaTek 9000 series, avoid 9300, others like 9200, 9000 are cool and fast.
MediaTek 8000 series, avoid 8300, others like 8200, 8100 are cool and fast.
MediaTek 7000 series, avoid 7200, others are cooler but slower.
MediaTek 6000 series, all very cool, but very slow.

As for Snapdragon there's a new hotdragon this year to avoid, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.

my parents redmi note 11 starting to slow down a little liao - i noticed redmi phone 2 years onwards starting to get affected by performance, could be because of hyperos not sure

i usually get redmi with snapdragon but that also doesn't seem to help

if wan't affordable budget but good spec/software i think poco better

my mom's poco f3 which is 1 year older than her redmi note 11 is holding up better in 2024. Of course the f3 has far more superior specs also lah

Oh the Redmi Note 11 is a dud, I tried it at the time because of the improved AMOLED display over the Redmi Note 10.

But the thing is that Qualcomm was the one that fucked the Redmi Note 11, the Redmi Note 11 uses Snapdragon 680 which is slower and less stable than Snapdragon 678 in Redmi Note 10, in fact Snapdragon 680 is a Snapdragon 665+, which is like the Redmi Note 11 downgraded back to Redmi Note 8 performance.

https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualc...-snapdragon-678

https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualc...-snapdragon-665

So in performance, Redmi Note 10 > Redmi Note 9 > Redmi Note 11 = Redmi Note 8

As for Poco F3, Snapdragon 870 from 2021 is a legendary processor that took until after Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1(2 generations of shit flagship processors), for Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to beat it in stable performance and efficiency.

rarely if ever you will get 2.8 Ghz
usually under load, 2.4 Ghz or 2.5Ghz
why, i dunno
the governer used is WALT

so if you are using it like a daily driver and expect a responsive phone
sorry ya

i have a 10t pro, when loading anything/apps, the 10t pro loads faster by 1 second

note 13 does not have any option for perf mode
some other hack method to enable perf mode does not work

Yes, they're almost identical.
But why?
Well, because POCO series is a 'subsidized' phone model by their advertisers. This brings down the price to a very appealing range. On top of that, poco uses a stock camera lens that is inferior to the Note series to drive down the price more.

In return, they get to spam ads on the phone. Of course, there is a way to circumvent that, but not all entry-level users know how to do that. So, if you're okay with the occasional ads, then Poco is a good phone. Its basically a mid-range price with a high-range spec.

Just be careful with China ROM if you're a Whatsapp user. There is a risk of getting soft banned every 2,3 days.

Redmi Note 13 4G uses Snapdragon 685 which is basically Snapdragon 680 from Redmi Note 11 4G, which is basically Snapdragon 665 from Redmi Note 8, which is basically Snapdragon 660 from Redmi Note 7. If you want properly draw up CPU performance ranking of the Redmi Note models based on their base CPU structure, you will get.

Redmi Note 10 > Redmi Note 9 > Redmi Note 7 = Redmi Note 8 = Redmi Note 11 4G = Redmi Note 12 4G = Redmi Note 13 4G

The fact that Redmi Note 13, a 2024 smartphone has performance equivalent to a 2018/2019 Redmi Note 7, over 5 years old is just something embarrassing to think about.

And then you have Mi 10T Pro using Snapdragon 865 which can beat Snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1 in performance stability and smoothness.

So although Xiaomi 11T Pro was more expensive than 10T Pro. In reality, by performance and stability,

Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (Snapdragon 865) > Xiaomi 11T Pro (Snapdragon 888) 😮‍💨

Being an Android phone enthusiast is a chore sometimes, I doubt even general public can keep up with Android phone releases

so i am aware of the perfs for the snapdragons and their model

but why the damn CPU is underthrottled is another matter
you can have the most powerfull snapdragon but the cpu governer underthrottle you, then the phone gonna lag

Because Snapdragon 685 in 2024 is not supposed to run a Cortex A73 CPU core at 2.8GHz, unless you are planning to have a space heater on your phone.

The Cortex A73 was only designed for operations of 2GHz and 2.2GHz like that found on the Snapdragon 660 on Redmi Note 7 in 2018.

So your Snapdragon 685 of Redmi Note 13 4G realistically runs at 2.2GHz only

The Cortex A73 is like several generations behind what is available today.

For context, here's how far the development of A73 is from today's A720.

Cortex A73 < A75 < A76 < A78 < A710 < A715 < A720

Look closely at 1:28 after Antutu benchmark ran done

Snapdragon 680 (with Cortex A73 clocked up to 2.4GHz) went to 36.1°C at peak temp during benchmark testing.

Snapdragon 685 (with Cortex A73 clocked up to 2.8GHz) went to 38°C at peak temp during benchmark testing.

But of course not much articles are published on the matter, however upon researching for a reply, I found that the peak clock rate that a manufacturer can put on a Cortex A73 is indeed 2.8GHz, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_Cortex-A73

But higher clock speeds translates into higher voltages needed, higher operating temperatures, as per articles such as the one below states.

https://techbitbytes.com/cpu-clock-speed-an...the%20processor.

Cortex A73 initially released in 2018 on the Snapdragon 660 clocked at peak 2.2GHz, and now after many refreshes, is still present on the Snapdragon 685 in 2024 at peak 2.8GHz.

I would argue more that the performance of A73 is outdated (6 years old in 2024,in tech world is like ancient already), and giving it higher clock speeds is just wasting battery and overheating the device (and the 2.8GHz and higher clock speeds only kick in benchmarking apps). So despite claiming 2.8GHz on Snapdragon 685, for most operations, the Redmi Note 13 4G runs like a Redmi Note 7 from 2018 such that your phone won't burn your hands off.

Of course, all of this can be avoided if Xiaomi wasn't so cheapo to use the Snapdragon 680 and 685 for Redmi Note 11, 12 and 13 4G. 😮‍💨

The Redmi Note 10 series was truly the last legendary Redmi series from Xiaomi with the standard Redmi Note 10 and 10 Pro.

(also Poco X6 series and Redmi Note 13 series is damn disappointing this year as well, currently there's only a small amount of Xiaomi devices I recommend and most of them are releases from 2023)
