QUOTE(iamloco @ Feb 21 2024, 07:25 PM) technically....you need a passport to enter Sarawak because a visa is actually officially needed and granted.but to facilitate movements of people, a special dispensation is given for stays up to 3 months, to be granted a visa on arrival, and since only an IC is provided, a Social Visit Pass is given as a slip of paper as a surrogate "visa in a passport", which must be shown on exit. |

QUOTE(hksgmy @ Feb 21 2024, 07:43 PM) Wow. I learn something new every day. During my time, 30 years ago, we needed passports to go S&S! When did they change the system? At least in the old days, ie. 90s, you had the option of either both as someone previously posted here. If you use your red/blue passport its a simple stamp and you either get a 7/14/30 days stamp. The other option would be to fill in a piece of paper, pale yellow/orange in color and then that gets stamped. Fun fact, you can do a border hop to either Labuan or Brunei to reset your time. hksgmy liked this post

QUOTE(COOLPINK @ Feb 21 2024, 08:47 PM) Nak gib u extra info for less 3 months and more 3 months. Kiddo time use to have that blue passport ... to go Singapore. Dont know can use to S&S too.

If you have a passport, that would probably be the best way.As special dispensation for movement of people, the use of the IC and issuance of a temporary "travel document" on arrival was introduced about 20 years ago. All this is because the Borneo states have immigration autonomy and needs to record all entries into the state, both Sabahans/Sarawakians and others. Same as what happens when you arrive from overseas at klia. |

within semenanjung just use IC, if semenanjung to S&S, if got valid passport, I prefer use passport because already trauma the slip misplaced few times, luckily it always in some pocket in the bag.
but if u are discipline and not forgetful like me, can always use IC. |

Guys, this is serious kopitiam and there's nothing wrong with ts question and he's asking nicely.
So pls don't tembak ts for it. Not everyone is a season traveller. Just one thing to add ts, make sure to be at the airport early as need to check in at least 2 hours before departure and be at the boarding gate half an hour before it opens Also check the departure/arrival board from time to time as the airline may suddenly rescedhule the flight early or late This post has been edited by arkasi: Feb 22 2024, 10:01 PM |
