CPU needs upgrade. Update your BIOS, then go for Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

What is your monitor resolution? What is the RAM speed? Casing brand and model? PSU very likely needs upgrade as well.

That budget not even enough to get AAA GPU like RTX 4080

What is your monitor resolution and refresh rate? If 1440p and above with 144hz or higher refresh rate, I suggest buy RTX 4080 Super which is slightly higher than 5k and a more powerful PSU. In future when got budget then upgrade the CPU to 5800x3d or 5600x if not much budget.

AAA titles but what settings do you want to play with? FHD, 2K, 4K? High or mid? With or w/o RT? Whats your target FPS?

RM 5K actually limited can do, say RM 3000-3200 for 4070 Super/7800XT (good for 2K 120FPS), then RM 1300-1400 for 5700X3D (if you can topup budget to 5800X3D better), 1st player steampunk 850 gold for RM400.

If can sell off the used parts, try get a B550 mobo as that Gen3x4 M2 will limit your SSD speed.

With 4070 be able to play at 2k High resolution? RT not that big of a concern for me. I just want my PC to last for another 5-6 years so I dont have to worry about upgrading during this period.

For MAXIMUM Perf Gain with your Budget :

only change CPU/GPU/PSU
retain all other

1. 5700x3D ~ RM1280
2. 4070 Super ~ RM2999
3. any good psu 750w ~ rm450
4. good CPU cooler ~ RM200

no other alternative to go faster than this.
( unless you talking about used part )
( or go 4070 ti )

RAM speed is choking the CPU as well. I suggest looking for 32GB DDR4-3600 when you have budget. It will be your final upgrade on your current platform. Ryzen loves faster RAM.

1440p need RTX 4070 territory already. Look for these on your upgrade path.

Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D
32GB (16GB X2) DDR4-3600 kit
RTX 4070 Super
1st player 750W Gold (lower quality) or NZXT C750

4070 Super yeah, not the OG 4070. It can do just under 100 FPS same as 7800XT

Better optimised AAA games can do over 120FPS

What resolution? hmm.gif

That PSU sweat.gif

I'd probably will look at a RX7800XT, and spend the rest on a CPU (depending on resolution) and PSU upgrade (yours is basically fancy cap ayam unit) icon_idea.gif

Swap that PSU and get a quality (Tier A from the tier list) unit, like this Cooler Master:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/cooler-m....list.1&stock=1

This 7800XT should be plenty for modern games, if you don't mind not having any competent resolution upscaling/ray tracing:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sapphire...list.17&stock=1

If you want a more power efficient card with better ray tracing and resolution upscaling performance then go for a 4070 Super instead:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tmt-inno...list.23&stock=1

You might want to look at a CPU upgrade if your resolution demands so, and this 5700X3D (effectively a downclocked 5800X3D) is an easy pick (do remember to upgrade the BIOS before swapping the CPU):
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/amd-ryze....list.2&stock=1

Total: RM4429

You can sell off some of your hardware to recoup the costs as well icon_idea.gif

A 4070 Super isn't a power hungry card, even a quality 650W will do just fine icon_idea.gif

Why not consider tightening the RAM timings instead of overclocking it? Gaming probably needs lower latency instead of faster RAM hmm.gif

A quality 650W unit isnt that cheap, so paying a bit more to up a higher wattage unit has better futureproofing as it can be used for future upgrades, whatmore if OP budget is sufficient to get it.

Tuning RAM timing is a darkarts, need a lot of patience and trials, and indepth understanding of what ones is doing.

With that budget why bother with 2nd hand 3080? Brand new 4070S ady beaten that GPU while sucking less power & giving less heat plus there is no risk of being exminer.

If budget can topup to 5800x3d is the best but otherwise why pay more. Both 5700x3d & 5800x3d are same 8core CPU with same size big cache, same 105W TDP limit, you can OC the 5700 to match 5800 stock clocks. In terms of real world performance your seeing <5% for a big gap of money

unless you stream/e-sport gamer, or like doing video editing. VRAM very useful

That depends whether TS is willing to buy the absolute top end card though (TBH the TDP of most GPUs are sort of plateaued outside of those uber expensive flagship models, and multi GPUs gaming like SLI/Crossfire is pretty much dead) icon_idea.gif

You also forgot a couple of advantages:

1. More VRAM - the 3080 already struggles in some games with RT on (yes it's only 2 extra GBs, but it can make a difference)
2. Much more forgiving for certain PSUs as some PSUs may not be able to handle the transient power spikes of the 3080 icon_idea.gif
