So I went back to hometown in Taiping and had reunion dinner with my secondary school classmate just now.

One friend say he buy 2nd hand 2010 Gen 2 CPS for son to drive to Tar college. Cannot find spare part. SC don't have, chop shop also no.

Another friend drive Suprima, also say cannot find spare part.

I told them should buy Toyota instrad. 1995 Corolla SEG AE101 also got parts. RV also good. Can sell for RM15000. Gen 2 CPS now less than 10k.

For comparison. Your 508 is sold in may countries in EU and primarily FR. The Gen 2 is only sold in certain countries like GB, SA, AUS but MY being the most sold in. While it may seem the car sold a lot and OEM parts are a lot for it, it is gradually running out. There are no reason to make spare parts for these cars where the amount you could probably count with your fingers. So you will run out of parts. Wira suffers less due to the similarities of many past Mitsubishi models.

If you compare Preve/ Suprima to Inspira, no way Preve Suprima will outlast Inspira that is based on Mitsubishi Lancer platform that was sold worldwide on parts.

Don't everything listen to 'your friend'.
A lot of cases people kantoi because listen to their 'friend'.

Better go ask a a few good mechanic for their advice.
I seriously don't believe that there are no spareparts for locally made cars..
As long as you can pay for it, surely can find it.
Also Proton cars are not 100% designed from scratch, often some other car brands' parts are used, so maybe you can find out and ask those brands' spareparts dealers.

Im using Preve since 2012 (bought it first batch). Spare part really easy to get. You can buy any parts from shopee or any spare parts shop at Jalan Ipoh or Segambut. Can also choose to buy ori or oem with several choices for oem with different brands.

Not sure why your friend said hard to get parts for Suprima (basically same parts as Preve)

IIRC some of the Preve/Suprima parts can also be replaced with European car parts due to similar mountings. For example the Suprima/Preve CVTs are frequenty replaced by automatic gearbox pulled from Minis.

yeah, close friend of mine broke down his gearbox few months back, and he decided to try the "kacuk" or mixed CVT using mini cooper internal parts instead of ori..

i tested it, the ori CVT3 feels punchier than the mixed CVT, but mixedCVT feels smoother....

in preve/suprima community, alot of them had done this, but when asked about long-term review, all diam2 saja...until now i still sceptical dry.gif

Even classic car can get spare part. Maybe your hometown mechanic lazy to open your car or no keep stock due to less demand or no experience to repair certain car.

yup. depend on locality of the place .

last time i work outside KL, using a Korean Car. Fark me so hard to get spareparts dey. end up need postage from KL every time, what a hassle. oso the local workshops oso do cincai only.

ur case in taiping, maybe still ok, but surely will kena oso. if u stay outside KL where workshop is limited and small, better stick to myvis and saga.
