Haily bags RM109.5 mil housing jobs in Johor from Gadang’s unit

KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): Construction outfit Haily Group Bhd has secured a RM109.5 million contract to undertake the construction and completion of 332 units of double-storey terrace houses in Pontian, Johor.

The contract was awarded to Haily’s wholly owned unit Haily Construction Sdn Bhd from Mandy Corp Sdn Bhd, a main contractor appointed by Splendid Pavilion Sdn Bhd, the ACE Market-listed Haily said in a filing to the local bourse on Tuesday.

Both Mandy Corp and Splendid Pavilion are wholly owned subsidiaries of Main Market-listed Gadang Holdings Bhd.



The job involves the construction of Phase 4A and Phase 4B of a housing project in Pontian, Johor.


The Phase 4A project

comprises 163 units of double-storey terrace houses,


while Phase 4B

comprises 169 units of double-storey terrace houses


and a Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) substation.

The Phase 4A project is scheduled to commence on May 2, 2024 and is to be completed by Jan 1, 2026, while Phase 4B will begin on Aug 2, 2024, and is to be completed by April 1, 2026.

In February last year, Haily also secured a RM78.28 million contract from Mandy Corp to build 262 units of double-storey terrace houses and two TNB substations for the Phase 2 project.

The value of the latest contract is higher than Haily’s market value of RM93.62 million.


Including the latest win, Haily has announced four contractor project awards since the start of 2024, with contract value totalling approximately RM247.09 million, all of which are located in Johor.

Earlier this month, Haily secured a RM59.46 million contract to develop 220 units of double-storey terrace houses and one unit of the TNB main switch station in Johor Bahru, from Austin Senibong Development Sdn Bhd.

Earlier in January, the company secured a contract worth RM45.8 million from Property Village Bhd for a housing project in Johor Bahru, as well as a contract worth



RM32.33 million from

Gunung Impian Development Sdn Bhd for a housing project in Skudai.

Shares in Haily finished one sen or 1.87% lower to 52.5 sen on Tuesday, valuing the group at RM93.62 million. The stock has risen 22.09% year-to-date.

Tropicana Unveils Industrial Park in Iskandar Malaysia

JOHOR BARU: Tropicana Corp Bhd recently unveiled its first industrial park during a groundbreaking in Iskandar Malaysia.

The 481ha site is the only centralised industrial park in the district, which is set to spur economic growth in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia.

"The Tropicana Industrial Park is in a prime location and enjoys unparalleled connectivity.

"Investors will be pleased to know we provide a host of conveniences, infrastructure and facilities.

"We are confident the plots will see swift take-up," said group chief executive officer Lee Han Ming.

The Tropicana Industrial Park consists of eight phases, with plots that are ready for sale to light and medium industries.

Priced at RM67 per square foot, the industrial park is 7km from Pekan Nenas, 12km from the Pontian town centre, 24km from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and 34km from the Senai International Airport.

Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said Iskandar Malaysia had been an important economic corridor since its inception in 2006.

"Electrical and electronics, petroleum and oleochemicals, food and agro-processing, logistics, tourism, creative, healthcare, education, and financial and business processes are the region's nine promoted sectors.

"We aim to achieve a population of three million and RM383 billion in cumulative investment by 2025.

"I am pleased that the Tropicana Industrial Park will help the state government achieve our targets and contribute to an investment-friendly environment." Tropicana also offers bespoke business support services to prospective occupants of the industrial park.

These include setting up of business registration, guidance on approval of licences, planning and designing of industrial space, manpower recruitment, workers' accommodation, customisation of factories and workplace safety procedures.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Tropicana Corp Bhd has achieved 100% take-up for Phase 1 of its first industrial venture, Tropicana Industrial Park in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.

There is also a recent sale of land parcels for a total consideration of about RM200 million there. The transaction highlights Tropicana Industrial Park's appeal as the primary industrial hub in Johor's Pontian district, catering for light and medium industries.

Tropicana managing director (southern) Karen Lee said in a press release dated Oct 18: "With proximity to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link to Tuas in Singapore, Tropicana Industrial Park offers unparalleled connectivity for investors with a host of centralised infrastructure, green features and facilities.

Tropicana sells Johor land to Japanese data centre player for RM383m

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 26): Tropicana Corp Bhd (KL:TROP) said on Monday it has inked a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with NTT Global Data Centers Holding Asia Pte Ltd to dispose of a parcel of land in Gelang Patah, Johor — measuring 68.457 acres — for RM383.13 million.

According to a bourse filing, the SPA was entered between Tropicana Corp’s wholly-owned subsidiary Tropicana Firstwide Sdn Bhd (TFSB) and seven indirect subsidiaries of NTT Data Group, a Japanese multinational information technology service and consulting company.

In a filing statement, Tropicana said the original cost of investment in the land stood at approximately RM143.19 million.


This is the fourth major disposal by Tropicana in the past nine months. The property group had separately disposed of three assets to IOI Properties Group Bhd over the period totalling RM1.115 billion.



They include Tropicana's 70%-owned Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya (RM680 million), W Kuala Lumpur Hotel (RM270 million) and Courtyard by Marriott Penang (RM165 million).

In a separate statement, Tropicana said it has

"We are confident that we will continue to strengthen our market presence and contribute to our future earnings supported by our high unbilled sales of RM2.3 billion and strong take-up for ongoing projects.” Tropicana added.

The SPA is conditional upon the conditions precedent and terms stipulated being fulfilled, including to obtain Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri’s approval and endorsement of the amended master plan.

In addition, before May 31, 2025, TFSB will need to complete the platform ready earthworks and adjoining land’s earthworks. The proposed disposal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

The company said part of the proceeds, amounting to RM80.93 million, will be used to repay existing borrowings on the lands, with much of the balance to fund its working capital and other property development projects.

At Monday’s closing, shares in Tropicana Corporation closed up one sen or 0.7% to RM1.50, giving it a market value of RM3.45 billion. Year to date, the stock is up 15.4%.
