Hello!

I regularly volunteer at two places:
PAWS animal shelter at the old subang airport road (Number: 03 - 78461087)
How to get there : You have to know how to get to old subang airport road of course. The shelter sticks out like a sore thumb beside a main road with a large "PAWS" banner outside. You can call the office and they'll give you better directions. You cannot reach the place by public transportation

What time to visit : This place is for morning people. As most activities are done in the morning (i recommend 9 am, they said the earlier the better) before the sun gets too hot to stress the animals
What to do : The place is separated to cats and dogs. And the occasional rabbit. You can CHOOSE to give love, spend time and "manjakan" the animals, feed, and clean the cages for both cats and dogs. For dogs, you can even put a leash on them and bring them for walks outside the shelter or bathe them. The animals love attention, and the happy wagging of tails and purring of cats is enough reward for a hard half a day of work

tips :
- be careful where you place your feet. Some animals are not potty trained
- wear shoes that fully cover your feet. No slippers and sandals, regulations from the shelter. However, don't go wearing your expensive new nikes as well. Not only do you have to avoid shit bombs regularly, some playful pups might think of you (and your shoes) as a chew toy.
- keep in mind that you will get dirty from unexpecting muddy paws. And malaysian weather might make the simple shelter unbearably hot too. So keep clothes light and simple.
- try to wear long pants, it's another regulation (but some have gotten away with this one) plus there might be a few mosquitoes around.
- there is no water provided. so bring your own because you will get thirsty.
- try not to bring a bag and valuables in. There is no place to keep them at. There are many foreign workers hired to take care of the shelter. They're friendly, and i'm not saying they're crooks. But it's better to be safe than sorry.
