Hi Sifus,

I'm not sure if this is under hardware or software but I have an issue with my PC since i bought it in 2022. Upon boot up sometimes the pc detects the ethernet port but sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, I'll need to manually scan changes on device manager but its not a guaranteed fix every time. I've done several clean window installs with the most recent one using a genuine key. I've also made sure that the driver that I'm using is the one from the manufacturer website rather than the Realtek website but the problem persists. Would any of you know what seems to be the issue?

Model: MSI Pro B660M-A DDR4
Realtek Driver: 10.68.815.2023
BIOS: 7D43v1G
OS Windows 11 Pro

Have you try unplug and plug in again? nowadays many shitty rj45 connector after clamping become loosen and you'll notice the down and uplink LED indicator from the Ethernet port keep turning off and on if your with led indicator

Is the ethernet feature enabled in BIOS? if not try to see what is the configuration in there, because if the ethernet is disabled and Windows will force to enable via operating system. Don't set to automatic, just do permanent enable. Please post result .. smile.gif

Sounds like the Intel I225-V 2.5G network adapter issue where the device is not showing up after boot. I got so frustrated with it on my Asus B550-F and added a i350 1G network card instead

Sometimes it shows up, sometimes no. Always have to go to device manager to scan for hardware if it doesn't.

I have MSI B660M Bazooka DDR4, and yeah the LAN was not stable sometimes have to mess something to get it to work, but after that it works with no issue. I'm using Realtek driver 10.62.824.2022 from MSI website (Realtek gaming 2.5G) and Windows 10, maybe you could try using the specific driver.

Also try right click on the LAN icon in the taskbar and select 'Troubleshoot problems', sometimes it did it for me.

Have to go through device manager. Because it would show like nothing is there at all. Only after i scan did it show up.

a lot of the motherboard with onboard 2.5G ethernet are still facing this issue, some claim the issue has been solved in latest hardware revision, some claim that the issue is resolved by latest driver from the network adapter manufacturer or motherboard manufacture.

at least in my case with the Intel I225-V 2.5G ethernet port on Asus Strix B550-F motherboard, no driver or firmware from either Intel or Asus has solved the issue. the LAN port would just go missing randomly, playing a game of chance every time I restart my pc

do you really need the 2.5G ethernet from your PC? if the rest of your network are still gigabit, and if you still have a spare PCI-E 3.0 x4 slot on your motherboard, just get a gigabit (10/100/1000Mbps) pcie ethernet adapter, there are cheap ones from Tp-link. Another option is the Intel I350 which is now going for RM120-150. save all the trouble of trying the fix the issue that the manufacturer doesn't even want to acknowledge themselves

Didn't know it was a common issue though. Damn, lets see how long i can tahan lah. I dont need the speed tbh, but i need the stability. Sometime when gaming on wifi, can get spikes eventhough router is next to pc.

Here's a cheap one TP-Link TG-3468

And this is from 10Gtek based on intel chipset 2-port gigabit ethernet card, may take longer to ship from China though
