Much appreciated!

They are trying to isolate the pipe now so expect some area in goerge town will have low pressure while isolating work is going on. Need to isolate then diver will go access the situation. They habe clamp on standby.

In a short while pba will come out with the list of effected areas

Some area in seberang will kena but this is for short period while isolating the pipe they need to reduce the pressure.

Too many thread. Not sure where to post update also.

So now need diver to access the situation first. If the hole can clamp then they will do it. But ofcourse recovery of water supply takes time.

Many people have been asking PBA on its FB page: how can 2 x 600mm pipes replace a 1350mm pipe, capacity wise?

It cant, due to the time constraint this close to 2mil project is a temporary mitigation but atleast this one can last longer but ofcourse the the combined volume is smaller than the initial one but the existing pipe really cannot tahan already so have to go for this.

Understand. Any plan to add to this capacity while waiting for the like-for-like replacement?

For example, install a manifold and run HDPE pipes to supplement the 2 x 600mm? I understand hdpe pipes are relatively easier to install.

The diversion pipe is already ongoing works and due to yesterday major leakage again so the work gonna be rushed and hopefully get it done by this week so it can be joint to the existing pipe and decommision the underwater pipe.

Thats why now have to wait divers assesment then only see how teruk the damage is and how long the divers need to clamp it. And if the damage is very bad and needed the same amount of days as the diversion pipe then maybe will opt to connect the diversion pipe since it will be ready in a few days time.

If the damaged can be clamp easily then it will be clamp dulu then once the diversion pipe is ready then need to isolate this pipe again so can joint the supply to the diversion pipe.

But all this are temporary measure yea but atleast with the diversion pipe we wont have to worry about leakage since it is on the ground instead of underwater. For long term mitigation i think pba will monitor and see if the pressure from this diversion is sufficient or not.

On the night when we isolate sg perai pba did valve throttling to all the reservoir on island thats why some area not effected also got low pressure or no water for a couple of hours.

Now the storage at bukit dumbar already reach safe level to be pumped out to green lane and relau side. Butt of course if people use more water then storage deplete then water will cut off again to allow the storage to be fill up to a safe level before can release.

As for some in sg ara, batu maung and balik pulau still need to rely tanker.

Hopefully clamping work can be completed tonight

Good update, thanks.

May I know, when the buffer tank at the pump house runs low, does PBA stop the pump(s) or put it on full recycling mode? Are these pumps driven by motors or turbines or both turbines and motors?

I can only imagine they're very huge pumps, so each start-stop will place huge current on the motor winding.

Sorry bro, this technical question i tak dapat answer. Once the storage is too low the pumps will stop automatically.

Pba monitoring system is quite canggih one

Think this pipe was done before many of us were born.
Maybe Burningsunz can correct me and give some insight.

yes i know. how long will it take for water to resume after (Plan B) Monday?

Connection should be done on the same day i think, but of course for full recovery depends.

I see they have new isolation valves for the 600mm stubs where they will tie-in the new lines. With the valves in place, why is there a need to down the main line to connect?

Cause need to cut off the line below the sg perai and seal it off.
