could be just value trap. I own quite some china bluechips stocks listed in hk. Hold them for years waiting for a rebound that still not yet come.
could just be a value trap. Meaning, yes, fundamentally not too bad. BUT, stock price will never move up as we wish, because no one buying them and pushing price up. Watch Tencent and china big banks, their valuation continues to drop to historical low. Therefore, even if their profit improve, stock price still hanging there. Look at China big banks A/H share spread, from 2 years back's 70%-80% went down to today's 60%+. That's a spread increase of 25%. Meaning, even if china government use their investment banks to buy up shares, it will only happen in A shares, but not H shares.

QUOTE(howyoulikethat @ Jan 22 2024, 10:03 PM) Bluechips. But, as I said above comment, it could just be a value trap. Only two happenings can save the HK stocks. 1, China government finally helping HK market by using national investment assets to buy HK shares. 2, China/US relationship improves, so that global investors return to invest in China/HK. At the moment, I don't see any of the two happening, at least not in short term. I only see situation getting worse.

China government won't buy HK shares because it wanted to see foreign investors (who invested in HK market) loss money. Therefore it only helps China share market when necessary.

QUOTE(Coconutmaldive1 @ Jan 24 2024, 04:22 PM) Time to go all in China. Jack Ma also back from retiring. Tired of playing golf I don't think so. I think his returning is mainly to save his own ass, otherwise China government will literally kill him, empty him, put him into grave. Simply put, he has no choice but to follow the wish of his government to save his own and his family's life.

Selling stocks can be a crime when the China government said so whenever they want. Good news for HK and China stocks though But since it's manipulation of policy instead of economic strength, I worry the market may take a long long time to stabilize or start to rebound if it ever could. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/china-freeze...-213822207.htmlThis post has been edited by yok70: Feb 21 2024, 07:48 PM
