Tested it in PJ/Kelana and Bandar Sri Damansara, both of which should have solid or at the very least decent DNB 5G coverage. Yet the modem could never establish a 5G connection.. very likely a faulty batch as per the link. Have also seen similar comments on platforms like Shopee, Lazada, forums etc.

Got it off Carousell and I'm fortunate that the seller is willing to provide a refund

you are lucky got the refund.

that's why in another thread i only recommend tplink x50 5g and nv510 from authorised tplink seller.

too risky to buy a 5g modem router from grey market but end up becomes a paper weight.

? The problem is specific to the NR5103E (Three (the telco) variant). Most of the stuff on Lazada/Shopee should be fine if they're unlocked.

Buyers just need to be somewhat familiar with the tech to ensure that the units support the necessary bands to work in Malaysia. Although in some cases the savings might not be worthwhile since the pricing is relatively high, around 100-300 cheaper than official units. Then again the people who resort to such channels probably don't have the financials to spare so the savings no matter how little may be significant for them

Honestly those going for these are those who use the unlimited sim and to bypass hotspot limit only. It's totally not worth to risk your money.

Some more Lazada was willing to subsidies your purchase. 3 years warranty on top.

Currently I having 5G NR CP502 (blue color), it OK with YES 5G. Now planning to get others model for my child to use at their hostel.

Mine already over a month not rebooted.

The modem can force lock 5G-NSA band without rescan unlike the TP-Link which you can only choose with the drop down menu to select it.

Did you specifically select 5G-NSA instead of auto 4G/5G-NSA fallback?

Which firmware version are you on for the 3 UK NR5103E?

You must select 5G-NSA only and not 4G/5G-NSA/5G-SA Auto fallback.

Then select B28 (many selected N28 wrongly) + N78 ONLY.

Which firmware version u using? Do not upgrade it OTA because it meant for 3 UK market. Stick with version B.

Mine uptime already >1 month 24/7.

Can't seem to get the OTA so stuck with B12 anyway. Believe the UK users are at B14 or higher.

Bands already set and configured to Auto Switch @ 5G-NSA/4G. No option for NSA only (other 3 options are SA/NSA/4G Auto; 5G-SA & 4G).

Appreciate the very helpful comments from the community so far but the fact is that there are 5103E lemon units around that are practically fully functional save for the ability to connect to 5G at all:

That is correct. Did you also check the tiny switch behind the modem whether it's set to external antenna or internal antenna? Make sure it's internal antenna many overlooked that as well.

Yes yes all is properly set lol. Again, this is sadly most certainly a lemon unit. Hard as it is, unfortunately we just have to admit that there are sometimes manufacturing defects with products which is why warranties exist after all..

Will be returning this soon. Hope I wont be as unlucky yet again with the next modem I get. lmao this is already my 2nd 'problem' modem. Just before I got this, I also went to pick up a used MC888D from a seller who was not aware it was still locked because it worked with some overseas SIM he tested with.

Anyone with experience with two 5G wifi modems? ZTE F50 in particular doesn’t seem to be popular in Malaysia but plenty of Facebook discussions in the Philippines.

How about the details here? Still no 5G support for DNB?

Also Shpee price is premium as usual. This listing is from Aliexpress. Not saying I want to buy there. Just see see first at the moment.

I think the issue is lack of B28

There is N28 and N78

But no B28, I think it's not suitable for use here

I think I have asked something similar here before in the past

No b28 as PRXSFENG said, I've seen this same modem on TB before, wanted to buy but no B28 which is unfortunate

There's a lot of not branded stuff on TB for mobile 5G modem, those I don't really trust to work in the long term (Such as TB 5G MTK Modem, supports B28 but looks meh overall)

I'm currently just using a 5G USB board and GL iNet router, but I got the 5G module together with a RK3568 based OpenWRT single board router, downside is it's expensive with around RM1.4k, but upside is open source and I don't have to worry about it getting obsolete)

Oh ok. So 5G in Malaysia is using B28? Instead of N-something?

B28 is supposed to to be the LTE anchoring band to combine with N78.

Malaysian 5G infrastructure is Non Stand-Alone(NSA) which means you need B28 as a base connection to connect then bond with N78 in order to achieve full 5G connection.

I guess N78 will only be available once we have dedicated full Stand-alone 5G network in future.

It is expensive to maintain because everyone by then must have 5G-only phones and everything else phased out.

This becomes a dedicated 5G network.

Ok. So I imagine if the modem has this tick box to say connect only to N28 and N78. Without ability to tick the box for B28, I won’t be connected to 5G ya?

Hey guys just saw OOKAS at Shopee begin selling Archer NX200, just wondering how does it compare to Deco x50-5g?

https://shopee.com.my/ookas/26815854842

The seller did mention the NX200 is a mediatek based chipset.

Just wanted something that is easy to set up, with official support for DNB.
