Correct. BYD only has single phase AC charger

https://soyacincau.com/2023/10/28/why-byd-d...charging-guide/
*
then tesla m3 will be better for 11kw home charging.

This isn't /k so please keep your snark out of it. The takeaway I got from watching the vid is my own, not Mat Watson's. When he looked at the build quality and how the seats were, the Seal is more comfortable even though the Model 3's seems to be a bit more roomy. Acceleration performance the Seal was a lot quicker off the line but the Model 3 catches on at the end of the quarter mile. For city driving the Seal likely feels a lot snappier despite weighing 200kg or so more.

The only thing I hope is Seal is cheaper than Model 3, but BYD doesn't have the AP-free advantage Tesla has, so they'll likely be priced neck-to-neck here.
*
didn't watch the video but was he comparing seal performance and m3 extended range? it will be a fair comparison for acceleration if tesla plan to intro model 3 performance

Snark? You are the one trying to misrepresent the video. Matt clearly says his conclusion here that Tesla wins, and yet you posted his video and said clearly BYD wins without even having the courtesy to say that's your own personal opinion.
*
You’re right. I should’ve prefaced by saying the “clearly Seal wins” part was my own opinion

I highly recommend you guys watch this vid. You can see the BYD Seal is the clear winner here

This guy kinda looks like Bear Grylls.

The Tesla parking bit is kinda funny; I can't imagine myself swiping up and down during parking to switch gear

Yeah, I really hope Tesla backpedals this decision. It seems “okay” on paper but would just be a huge pain in the ass to do parallel parking IRL.

thumbup.gif all good bro, now back to discussion about car.

Brand is still brand like it or not. Tesla is way more prestigious than BYD. Proton has the same issues since Wira and Waja, 60k can buy full spec Waja/Persona so why spend 80k to buy kosong Vios? T and H brand ma. Like it or not is a very big factor in car buying in Malaysia, otherwise everyone will be happily driving Perodua Axia, Axia already have all the features everyone needs.

Yeah, Chinese brands need a bit more time and some positive track record to improve public perception. Japanese manufacturers used to be looked down upon by American and European carmakers during post-WWII era, but look at where they're at today.

I do think the Chinese brands stand a bit of a chance because unlike ICE where engine and gearbox combination play a huge role (what the Germans are great at), for EVs driving feel more or less feel quite similar, so it's more a matter of suspension and chassis tuning.

A lot of it is patent though, they can't really sell in places like Australia or EU because they violate patents.
Take my X70 as example and the 1.8t engine in it. The engine is carbon copy of VW EA888 engine. It is exactly the same that I can use VW/Audi oil filter for my car. They can sell here and in China no problem because our IP protection is weak and in China the courts will side with China company no matter how bad the violation is (like the Muji case where Muji lost).

In the case of chassis tuning, they are not very good at it. Proton beg them for years to let them tune those X-series cars but they refused. Now only they let Proton tune, otherwise X50 will be lambasted because the original ride was very bad.

We need to boycott agenda pre-book.

Gauge market response to set final selling price / early bird promo.

Can confirm it is a stupid PITA and simply not ergonomic to use.

Esp trying to do a three point turn. It is not better, it’s simply cost cutting.

I booked the car 2 weeks ago, paid 5k. Till now not yet decided to go for long range or performance. Also not decided black or white. When paying deposit, I put as long range white but can change anytime.

Now looking to sell off my 2022 Civic E!

I can get the car as early as end of this month as soon as I make up my mind. Funny you should mention 2 month wait for performance. Last night I was at the pre-launch function and almost every BYD salesperson mentioned the performance may be jerky for daily drive and too throttle-happy and may not be comfortable in traffic jams. They all recommended the premium for overall best satisfaction. I thought nothing of it but my brother felt they were bashing the Performance and promoting the Premium - he even guessed that they may have short ordered the Premium and cannot meet demand so they are trying to convert customers to Premium. I was also told privately that they brought in a bunch of Dynamics which they last minute decided not to launch locally because it may kill off Atto3. The price would be 150k plus. In the next few months they will be offering this variant quietly to get rid of ordered stocks of Dynamic.
