KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda Malaysia is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated CX-60 in 2024, as recently highlighted by The Edge Malaysia. The vehicle, which made its worldwide debut in March of the previous year, is now set to enter the Malaysian market.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
Will the CX-60 be a replacement for the CX-5?
No it will not,it will be sold alongside the 2024 facelift CX-5 which will also be debuting this year

What category SUV is the CX-60?

It's a premium SUV and will bravely take on SUVs from manufacturers such as BMW and Mercedes
2024 Mazda CX-60

In an announcement made in August 2023, Mazda confirmed the upcoming introduction of the CX-60 in Malaysia adding weight to the claim. The new model is expected to be priced above the CX-8 and CX-9, potentially surpassing the RM300,000 mark, especially given the RM328,000 pricing of the CX-9.

The Mazda CX-60's main appeal, according to those who have sampled it, lies in its combination of luxury features, performance, and affordability compared to its premium rivals. It's also Mazda's first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) and is positioned as a high-end model, aiming to compete with brands like BMW and Mercedes. The CX-60 features a stylish design, a spacious and high-quality interior with Japanese craftsmanship, and impressive technical capabilities.

The CX-60 is a luxury SUV that stands out with its new rear-wheel-drive platform. Its dimensions are 4,745mm (length), 1,890mm (width), and 1,670mm (height), with a 2,870mm wheelbase, making it slightly smaller than the Mazda CX-8. The SUV's minimalist design features high-end materials like Nappa leather, Maple wood accents, and Japanese fabric textures.

Key features of the CX-60 include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a full LCD instrument panel, and a dashboard design that draws inspiration from the CX-5.

The powertrain options for the CX-60 vary by market. In Singapore, it is equipped with a 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine that produces 188hp and 261Nm of torque. The version available in Indonesia comes with a 3.3L e-Skyactiv -G + 48V inline-six turbocharged engine with a mild-hybrid system, delivering 280hp and 450Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Philippines version is powered by a 3.3L e-Skyactiv-G and a 3.3L e-Skyactiv-D inline-six turbo diesel engine, offering 250hp and 550Nm of torque.

The Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia is likely to have a range of powertrain options. It would be nice if Mazda Malaysia offers it with Mazda's first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, known as e-Skyactiv PHEV. This system combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. Together, they produce a total system output of 327 hp and 500 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful production.

The only reason why CX-5 was so hot last time is value for money. MAzzie products today wanna go upmarket like Lexus. They are not going to get sales like CX-5 anymore. Because there are more competing SUV today than it was in 2012.

To be a luxury SUV, you need to remove the plastic cladding which Mazda did but it made the car even uglier IMO.

Lol I will definitely not at that price point. At 300k price point I might as well go for Lexus NX. Even with 200k also susah nak sell...

Cx5 main selling point is the price ratio to its build quality

This one isn’t gonna sell coz the price is ridiculous for mazda

Proof is in the pudding with the cx9

Pretentious like Honda/Toyo raising prices to show they’re in luxury level padahal om puteh put them same level as hyundai/kia. If Lexus/Acura different level but still asian underpinnings. If can’t afford Merc go Maz, senang saja, no need to cover the eyes with wool..

Honda Toyota raising prices because of raising cost and our lower RM value. Other car manufacturers also raise their prices globally.

Mazda raise price because they want to go upmarket.

The CX-8 sells reasonably well at the 200K or specifically 190-220K depending on trim

You filter for the CX-8 up to 31st August about 2K were sold

https://data.gov.my/dashboard/car-popularity

But the 8s are three row large SUVs. CX-60 iinm is a two row slightly shorter wheelbase

Like you said the 300K price point gonna kill it unless its that good looking. And on first glance the Harrier looks prettier
