Xiaomi Poco X8 Pro Max https://soyacincau.com/2026/03/17/poco-x8-p...0s-specs-price/ https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPh...ne1=14507#diff- The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra offers a significantly longer support window with 7 years of both major OS and security updates. The Xiaomi Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max follow a recently improved policy from Xiaomi, providing 4 major Android updates and 6 years of security patches. QUOTE Poco X8 Pro the pro max has a 8,500mAh with 1600 cycles. for s26u it has 1200 cycles yet is a 5000mAh.  8GB+256GB – RM1,499 (Promo: RM1,299)   8GB+512GB – RM1,699 (Promo: RM1,499) Poco X8 Pro Max   12GB+256GB – RM1,999 (Promo: RM1,699)   12GB+512GB – RM2,199 (Promo: RM1,799) u can get the poco X8 Pro Max 12GB ram, 512gb storage space for under rm2000 during promo. QUOTE Key Performance Insights titanium for s24u? well according to samsung for s26u u never needed it. so does it even matter if poco doesn't have titanium?  Poco X8 Series Advantage: Both Poco models use 100W HyperCharge technology. While the Pro Max takes slightly longer to reach 100% (~60 minutes), it is refilling a battery nearly double the size of the Samsung. The Pro Max can reach 50% in just 24 minutes.   Samsung S26 Ultra   Upgrade: According to PhoneArena, the S26 Ultra is the first in its line to move beyond 45W, now supporting 60W. Lab tests from Ice Universe show it can reach 75–80% in 30 minutes, with a full charge taking 50–53 minutes.   Reverse Charging: The Poco X8 series introduces industry-leading 27W wired reverse charging, effectively allowing the phone to function as a fast-charging power bank for other devices.   Box Contents: The Poco X8 series typically includes the 100W adapter in the box (region dependent), whereas Samsung continues to sell its 60W charger separately. it even has wifi 7, bigger battery, amoled, high refresh rate, atmos speakers, fastest charging, 6 years of software updates for UNDER rm 2k which is more reasonable than other alternatives. the only thing i may worry is the bloat question on the poco OS. and the worse camera. the camera on the poco seems good enough for me. if you take camera seriously, then don't get this speakers also don't seem as good as s24u, though if you need to crank up volume it can certainly do that just fine. QUOTE Launch Pricing & Net Cost (512GB Model) The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (512GB) retails for RM 6,799.   Typical Net Price: After a standard trade-in (approx. RM 3,300 rebate), you would pay roughly RM 3,499.   Promo Net Price: With the full stacked RM 1,300 overtrade bonus, the net cost could drop to as low as RM 2,199. i just can't think of a good reason to get a samsung ultra smartphone if you are gonna spend rm 3-5k. the poco is more than capable as a main driver smartphone. the samsung 7 major OS? the 7+ years of updates? who cares. not as if the samsung battery health will last past 5-6 years to begin with. poco security updates for 6 years, and 4 major android OS updates promised will be more than sufficient to last for the full 6 year period. Also if you haven't noticed already, android is quite fleshed out enough as is. so barely anything of worth gets added anyway. also, you will still get the security patches for the full 6 years when bought from the launch date. main concern is the poco OS, whether the bloat is manageable or not. launcher maybe can be replaced with alternative like lawnchair. QUOTE If you want to keep your data off Xiaomi’s servers on a POCO device (running HyperOS or MIUI), you need to be aggressive with the settings. Unlike Samsung, which leans on Google/Microsoft, POCO has its own extensive cloud ecosystem that is often "on" by default. Here is how to lock it down: 1. Opt-out of the "User Experience Program" This is the main way Xiaomi collects usage data to "improve services."   Go to Settings > Passwords & security > Privacy > User Experience Program.   Turn OFF "User Experience Program" and "Send diagnostic data automatically." 2. Kill the "Ad Services" (MSA) Xiaomi uses a process called msa (Mina Miui System Ads) to track your ID for targeted ads.   Go to Settings > Passwords & security > Authorization & revocation.   Find msa and Revoke its authorization. (You might have to wait 10 seconds to tap "Revoke").   Do the same for GetApps if you don't use Xiaomi's app store. 3. Disable Xiaomi Cloud Sync By default, POCO tries to sync your gallery, contacts, and messages to the Xiaomi Cloud.   Go to Settings > Mi Account > Xiaomi Cloud.   Turn OFF syncing for everything (Gallery, SMS, Contacts, Call History).   Go to Settings > Google > Backup and ensure you are using Google or a local backup instead, if you prefer US-based over China-based cloud storage. 4. System App "Recommendations" Many system apps (File Manager, Cleaner, Themes) have their own "recommendations" (ads/tracking).   Open File Manager > Tap the 3-line menu > Settings > About.   Turn OFF Recommendations.   Repeat this inside the Security app and Themes app settings. 5. Use "Incognito Mode" (HyperOS Feature) If you have a high-end POCO like the X8 Pro, use the system-wide Incognito Mode.   Pull down the Control Center.   Tap Incognito. This instantly kills microphone, camera, and location permissions for all apps until you turn it off. 6. The "Nuclear" Option: Debloating If you are tech-savvy, you can use a tool like Universal Android Debloater (UAD) via a PC. This allows you to uninstall system-level tracking apps (like com.miui.analytics) that can't be disabled normally. This does not require rooting your phone. Quick Tip: During the initial setup of a new POCO, never click "Agree to all." Always manually untick the boxes for "Personalized ads," "User Experience Program," and "Auto-update system apps." everything else? just seems like a win if you want something good, with some trade offs (probably worse AI, worse but OK cam) Samsung has not impressed with it's recent s26U. there is nothing ultra about it except the price. just look around and just realize how ridiculous it is we are paying for a worse experience then something like this poco X8 pro max. https://www.androidpolice.com/poco-x8-pro-max-hands-on/ though s26u has 16gb ram, the s24u i have with 12gb of ram is sufficient for my usage. never had an issue with that, so the pocos 12gb ram is not a deal breaker. so anyway, sticking to my s24u since it works fine and happy with it. not going to simply upgrade for no reason. But once it's life expires when battery is dying in probly 2-3 from now, then i'll check if the samsung ultra with trade in is worth it. Or i may just go for something like this poco. will see. depends on price and features This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Mar 19 2026, 10:15 AM |

QUOTE The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is currently eligible for approximately 5 more years of major Android OS and security updates. software side 5 years before you have to upgrade. 5 is alright i guess not sure about used.... hopefully you don't get cheated. someone on discord told me their story about buying 2nd hand. they told me they found out it was a stolen phone..... u may not care, but why did it matter? because the imei got blocked QUOTE If you have purchased a second-hand phone and discovered it is blocked (blacklisted), it is highly likely the device was reported lost, stolen, or has an unpaid balance. Once a device's IMEI is blacklisted, it is essentially "blocked" from accessing all mobile networks in the country. QUOTE Immediate Actions to Take Stop using the device: Continuing to use a device you suspect is stolen can lead to legal charges for "handling stolen goods" or "receiving stolen property," even if you bought it unknowingly. Report it to the police: Go to your local police station and explain that you purchased the phone in good faith but now suspect it is stolen. Provide them with: The phone’s IMEI number (found by dialing *#06#). The seller's details (name, contact info, and where the transaction took place). Proof of purchase (receipts, bank statements, or chat logs). Contact the seller for a refund: You have a legal right to a full refund if an item sold to you was stolen. If they refuse, you can use the police report as evidence for a dispute. so hopefully the person you bought from is selling legit 2nd hand....
