i saw photographers in the studio used it. and i think they only intend to use it there cos it looks like it weighs 3 tons.
after seeing one, man my hands really gets itchy to get one.
saw a couple of hassleblads and mamiyas costs around 1k - dunno how many ks in ebay.

my questions is, using this type of camera, does the photographer need to figure out the exposure all by himself?
cos this type of camera is like all spring loaded, no batteries needed and therefore no computers and sensors to calculate for you.
if wrong exposure means wasted film (a pack of 5 rolls of fuji velvia 50 120mm films costs around 150 bucks).
one roll of films only provides 10 -12 exposures.

they also have digital backs which means you can have a digital medium format.
but getting one of those means selling off one of my limbs.

one more question is, how much does it cost to develop this kind of film in our regular photo store?

developing medium format wont cost u any of ya limbs btw... In Seri Kembangan, there is a shop dat charge u RM 5 for processing it, n RM 1 for each exposure (pictures) dat u haf on the film... d real problem is to find which shop that has the capability to develop the medium format... a real challenge for me n my sis earlier on...

Yes.

And depending on camera, u can get different formats out of it like 6x4.5, 6x6 & 6x7.

it's a nice camera that i have been using for quite sometime before i upgraded to largeformat.
i used to have a seagull, then a hasselblad 503cw, then a mamiya 7II.

i doubt that you can find a hasselblad for rm 1k... well, i might be wrong though... for mamiya, yes... you can find a used RB67, plus one lens plus one film magazine for rm 1k plus.

film wise, slides film is more or less rm 12-15 per roll... i use provia 100F and it cost me rm 12 per roll... colour negatives i get the normal kodak for rm 8.50

depending on format the film will give u different number of shots per roll...

6x4.5 = 16 shots (mamiya 645, pentax AF, contax AF)
6x6 = 12 shots (all hasselblad, all rollei)
6x7 = 10 shots (mamiya RB67, RZ67, pentax67)
6x8, 6x9, 6x12, 6x17 all these format are not really popular and the cameras are really expensive... so no point in telling u.

medium format cameras system can be constructed parts by parts... and therefore, if you want a light meter in there, you can get it and attach it to the camera... if not, the camera is basically without a light meter... and you wont know what exposure to set unless you have a hand light meter with u.

and yes, most of the medium format cameras are mechanical and therefore, no electronic component in it and therefore, no 10FPS, no auto film advance, no auto film rewind... you have to do everything yourself... oppsss... no autofocus as well.

some of the medium format cameras come with the auto features like autofocus and stuffs but i dont think you would like to venture into that category first.

itz my sis's btw.. aint mine, but we share the same interest in lomography cameras.. but i decided to go digital then.. It is Holga 120CFN...

cross processed is wat usually make those lomo pics to come alive, i suppose... pity, the shop dat we went in Seri Kembangan can't do cross processing... finding the shop dat sells d film is a challenge by itself, n finding a shop dat can do cross process nowadays, is even more challenging.. i havent found any shops around here dat carry out such process... i wonder is YS Photo in Seri Serdang is able to do dat... hrmmmm

a lot of shops dont do cross processing because this type of process will 'kill' the chemical faster.

some shops charge extra.

for my job i use d200... easy
i use largies for my personal works...
the camera is a chepo wan... shen hao, a chinese made 4x5 camera.
but the lens is a schneider symmar apo 210mm/5.6

i dont change lens so i dont mind having only one lens for the time being

I have a medium format TLR. Because long time no use, so i loaded film into it. But i am lacking some photographic skills , so i can't fully test whether the camera can take good picture or not. There are total 12 shots and i just take only 4 shots. Still got 8 shots to go.

The TLR i used is a China brand named Seagull.
