This started to happen around last wednesday 27th Dec 2023, i will irregularly get connection timed out while visiting sites (most impacted one recently is github.com, speedtest.net)

Have also tried to contact TM for help, their technician came and factory reset-ed the router and its working fine for a while but its really hard to tell because this is really inconsistent.

And now the issue is coming back, looking for suggestions to troubleshoot this issue because I decide to give TM another call

What I have tried
- restart router,
- factory reset the router,
- use google's dns,
- use the assigned dns,
- disable ipv6, use ipv4 only

apparently my family members' devices are also facing the simillar issues

I personally cant tell much from tracert, it seems pretty normal and packets do get out of my router

update: might be related? https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5149798/+0
update 2: today is 8th Jan 2024, the problem has miraclously gone, TM very sus

been going on for years

its a tm issue and tm refuses to do anything meaningful

only way to resolve is to use vpn, then switch to maxis once contract over

Not sure if related but, when my previous OPNSense VM died, I had to switch back to Unifi’s own ONR as backup when I was fixing and bringing back up another OPNSense router box

I’ve noticed that using the ONR with stock default settings causes a TON of issues with website timeouts. I didn’t change anything on the ONR before I unplugged it to use OPNSense mind you, but going back to TM’s router is just disastrous all around, same issues as you, GitHub/Speedtest etc all just timeouts, but sites like YouTube etc is fine.

DNS same on both, but TM’s router just causes me so many headaches with these

But the moment I flip on VPN everything is fine again, idk why or how it’s happening as well

Why disable IPV6? I enabled ipv6 not long after I installed my unifi. There was a time where it was getting a lot of errors and I disabled it when advised by fellow forumer. It worked well at first but later on, I was getting lag that are so bad that I started to enable it again. Everything return to normal since. Personally I think unifi work better with ipv6.

If you have a spare router, might be worth giving it a try.

Actually for my case, it takes even longer for pages to load with vpn, Im using nord vpn and it actually takes longer to load sites. I am also suspecting it might be my router's issue but even with factory reset it doesnt help hmmm. I've been using the router TM gave me since the initial installation for 2 years, router dont usually last this short right?

I actually just disabled it temporary to eliminate the possiblity of it causing the issue, i've enabled it back later

i think im facing a similar situation as you. for the past 3 weeks. in fact even now. Yesteday i contacted unifi and they reset the port, it was okay for sometime and then today back to normal. even lowyat.net sometimes can take a long time to load for me. tried all the troubleshoot you listed above as well. Some of the residents in my taman also complaint their unifi sometimes down, which im thinking the same case as me.
