Hi.

I just bought an ex5 fi, 2021 model that had been sitting in storage for some time.

I had it serviced, and this is something I would like to clarify with other owners and riders.

As I go through the gears, I realise that when the engine reaches a very high rev, the clutch will disengage and then slowly re-engage.

Example, 2nd gear and I'm revving up and I intentionally twist throttle to max, the engine will pull and then when it's hitting high revs, the clutch will disengage causing engine to reb higher buy bike not pulling anymore, then slowly will re-engage to pull bike.

If I ride like typical normal style, no issue. It's only when I twist max throttle.

Is this a normal characteristic for the ex5?

Sounds like clutch is slipping. May need to get them checked..could be the plates...could be a bearing...but basically need to open up.

Also if ur using car engine oil when u service...uve basically burnt ur clutch.

That's certainly not normal. There is something wrong with the clutch pack.

Just get it replaced..clutch pack assembly often less than 100. It's not expensive.

Not normal on any centrifugal clutch system. Get it checked

it can happen if you're accidentally pressing on the gear lever halfway, that can release the clutch
