Rephrased from words my dad who is 40+ years of experience contractor d, who also did everything in our house's renovation.

If you keep saving cost and finding inexperienced tilers or Indonesians, you will forever keep wanting to do regrouting every once in a while. I trust my dad's words cause our house renovated 14+ years ago d and the grouts still look pitch black or still milky white like new, everywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom. Never a single tile being hollowed underneath or fallen off after so long.

I'm not experienced in this by any way, I never picked up the trade from him. I just see the results from my own house and the houses he worked in. Not a single complaint of his workmanship after so many years. And believe me when I say the worksmanship on the tiles is worth much more than the tiles themselves. If the grout turns bad or changes colour, your floor or wall will keep looking bad no matter how good or expensive of tiles you chose.

But sad thing is hard to find ppl who are so meticulous in tiling anymore as all don't think of long-term results, my dad is probably one of the last still in the trade that refuses to do things the easy way. At least that's what he told me when lamenting about the next generation of contractors. I wouldn't know, my dad always did everything in the house.

I agree with you about workmanship quality. Generally, labour cost of tiling is always more expensive than the tile itself.
But the new generation tilers also lament about the older gen. Most older gen will refuse to do tiles larger than 2x4. Most wont know how to use 2 part epoxy grout. Some dont even use notched trowel. Heck, some even tell you they can do better level manually than using levelling clips.
