Wee Ka Siong was not the only person to thank to. People like Azalina and his team also need to be highlight because they make this happen. It need a Constitutional amendment to legalise it and they passed it not long ago.

What makes you think before this amendment they cannot have their kids to become citizen?

This issue is regarding Malaysia WOMAN marrying a foreigner and their children were born OUTSIDE MALAYSIA (Federation). Under previous Constitution, the children cannot automatically become a citizen (following their Malaysia mother). Parent (mother) need to apply for her kid to become a citizen. With this Constitutional amendment, the children automatically become a citizen if the parent want to.

I think her daughter born in Germany, but she wants Malaysian citizen. She also studied and worked there for awhile.. if I remember correctly.

I respect everyone's decision about this, she knows what's best for her and her daughter.

But if me, probably stay in Germany already... even fruits going UK these days.

Maybe the language is huge barrier kot. Don't know, can't judge yet, need to ask herself for the answers. Maybe someone need to interview her.

I think it is high time for Malaysia to rethink about dual-citizenship. While I understand the decision of bar dual-citizenship back then, nowadays the world is like a global village. People work everywhere and anywhere. It is better for come people to have a choice of citizenship if that is on the table. Malaysia need to be smart about it. Maybe they can offer something like MM2H benefit and term and regulations. Just my 2 sen.

why not
u have no idea how precious malaysian citizenship is
got 1 peagent winner...married a UK citizen
in theory becoming a UK citizen is better right?
but the mom still wants her child to have malaysian citizenship(if can choose)
she is the one that voiced out about this problem at the beginning

at the end, her child still hold UK citizenship and passport

Malaysia still the best...kena tangkap, can kasi duit kopi settle, do business beside road, no license also can settle. Actually Malaysia is the best place to relax and not so strict law enforcement, and also doing business. That's why a lot of China ppl come here set up factory to do recycling business.

Legally we don’t allow dual citizenship

However still many Malaysian took other country citizenship while keeping Malaysian one

My daughter and son , both has Malaysian citizenship and follow their mum citizenship as well

Always good to be able to communicate in mutiple languages.

I think it depends on the curricullum. Your school perhaps teaches MY curricullum?

back then we're still SPM but we're only allowed to speak English at school...of course i'd give my hats off to my BM teachers who are very dedicated to show us the versatility of the BM language, that's also how I got interested in reading pantuns and writing karangan

Good point. I wany my UK citizenship and Malaysian citizenship both. Many countries already do this. But I guess it's a start

The mother was in Germany, study, work married a Chinese German citizen. Can see his picture in Star article

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2023...lly-a-malaysian

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/malays...ysian%20fathers.

In CNA article, mother said her husband quit his job in Germany to come Malaysia join her. She came back to give birth to 2nd kid cos of 1st daughter citizenship problem

As to why never stay in Germany there get citizenship there like what some /k post, she didn't say. Could be language, job opportunity, Covid or just dual citizenship in case divorce.

Nowadays can do online business from anyway in the world. The parents can travel back & forth Germany.
