Hi all, I am trying to build an all white rig...but the problem is with the PSU cables..it's hard to find white PSU that comes with white cables..so what are the usual alternatives? White sleeve for PSU cables? Or white cable extensions?

Any issue if I use third party cable extensions? Any brand or model to recommend?

Use extension the easiest... Don't buy those cheap cables.. you have headache to troubleshoot random crash etc

Buy reputable cables like cable mod etc that known to be reliable

sometimes extension also headache depending on the how much headroom ur pc case provides for cable management + how u wire ur cable. will put a big mess on that.
cablemod is expensive, think overpriced even. frankly u can just go lazada and find a good one e.g. formulamod

do note tho, extensions may be widely compatible but the wire gauge they use may be smaller than what's in the PSU cables. for example, my PSU's 24-pin ATX cable is mostly 16AWG while extension cables only 18AWG, this means downsizing and may carry consequences because 18AWG carries less current than 16AWG

Ya I am looking for cable mod but not many sellers..I can only find Idealtech selling it. And now they have no plan to restock. So far any problem for using extension?

I was planning to get Cable Mod..the casing is Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo...should have enough space to manage the cables? hmm.gif My power supply will be Super Flower Leadex VII XG..notice it's the same as yours so will be same problem? hmm.gif Cable Mod might be expensive but reliable kot...I scare random buy from Lazada or Shopee later short circuit sweat.gif

Couldn't find local seller for Formulamod sweat.gif

EDIT: Upon some random Google...seems like 18AWG should be fine.

actually when i bought my leadex vii xg i got curious and looked up cablemod sleeve cable for the model...iirc cablemod said they haven't confirmed its compatibility with their E-series (that series was compatible with EVGA PSU pinouts and since SF was their OEM so the pinouts were the same). chances are it's no longer the same because gt ppl tested and found out the cables were not interchangeable

if u mean extension cables then different story. suppose can try out I guess. dunno what gauge cablemod is using for the extensions though...many ppl say 18AWG no problem can be extended from 16AWG including cablemod. but if ur using 12vhpwr, the wire must be 16AWG (as per spec)

I last time also used sleeved extension cables but made a mess on my cable management cuz my case don't have much cable clearance. during this year's upgrade I removed them and made my life easier...ur O11D Evo looks wider so maybe can fit in more extension cables??

I planned to use extension cables instead of sleeve cable cause less riskier..the only downside is extra cables that needs to be managed..hopefully can all slot in at the back XD

From what I found, Cable Mod are using 18AWG and yes for 12vhpwr the wire must be 16AWG so their 12vhpwr is actually the only one with 16AWG...at least that's what I found in Reddit.

We use 18 AWG for the PCI-E, EPS and 24-pin ATX cables. The 12-pin Micro Fit cable does require 16 AWG though so we do use it for that cable, but on the other cables it is overkill and costs more for no real world benefits which is why we don't use 16 AWG on other cables at this time.

Problem? Well it would depend on their compatibility and actual quality of those extensions, if its those branded ones then yeah should be no problem but an unbranded one can risk fire hazard. Then theres the issue of adding cable lengths making more clutter.

If get from CableMod why not get their cable replacements instead (direct to PSU & not just extensions)? You can try contact CableMod directly see if they could guide you where to buy. Perhaps Amazon SG is ur best bet.

Yes, I had problem with extension; 'cheap' unbranded .. giving me random crashes etc

Hence I recommend if you want use extension; use 'reputable' brands ...

the best is using branded 3rd party cable that directly replace your PSU model

warning; BUY again from reputable and CORRECT model ; its not universal... some PSU have their wiring totally different that will totally short your PSU and eventually the Mobo if use on wrong model/series
