The Biggest Moment For Laptops Since Apple’s M1 (Dave2D Meteor Lake Review)

Battery Performance (Photoshop Heavy Load Usage)

75Wh Zenbook 14 OLED (Core Ultra 7) - 4h38min

75Wh Zenbook 14 OLED (Core i7 13th Gen) - 2h27min

The mad men in Intel did it, they doubled battery life of laptops in one generation.

ic. M2 wins all. But at least AMD lasts longer than Intel. bye Intel. cry.gif and this time all on similar process node.

well, Intel has been playing catching up since forever... too complacent thinking they can still command a big market share. So when AMD and Apple came leaping pass them, they can't respond to it at all...

M2 = 5nm + RISC
Intel is on 7nm + x86

not apple to apple actually.

If you go M2 you have much much less accesible software and application.

Intel MeteorLake is on Intel4, same process node generation as TSMC N5/N4.

nope. the density, performance, power, area is similar to TSMC N5/N4. that's a reason why Intel renamed their process node technology nomenclature.

Performance per watt, Intel still lose quite badly. By looking at this seems that Intel 4 is still less efficient compared to TSMC. Better than old Intel but not much compared to TSMC made AMD and Apple M3

Ultra 7 155H at RM5,999. Intel chip availability is fast compared to AMD lol.

Intel Core Ultra may not surpass Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 series or Apple M3, but it has caught up to AMD Zen 3+ processors and Apple M2 series in terms of performance efficiency, whilst being much better in power efficiency over its predecessor of "Core i" chips.

And the pricing of 1st gen Core Ultra laptops seems to be unchanged against previous generation 13th Gen Core i (besides the depreciating MYR exchange rate, making the laptop slightly more expensive)

So if you want to futureproof your laptop, the Core Ultra (Arc iGPU generation) would finally be a worthy upgrade for laptops that are showing its age, compared to 11th-13th Gen Core i (Iris Xe generation) and 8th-10th Gen Core i (Intel UHD generation)

Not to mention, only intel laptops have support for Thunderbolt 4 as well as preferred support by IT depts/companies in Malaysia (due to Intel's presence in Malaysia over AMD)

Intel unfortunately focuses on lobbying into the biggest market share on the laptop processors space, and so far, it worked out for them.

However, it's good that they are at least doing the bare minimum to finally make their processors better for 2024, orelse their reputation would continue to drop further, which would transform to lower market share long-term.
