same, it's just how long can their coating last and how well their scratch resistance work.

Just got a new lens recently, the Essilor Eyezen Boost Crizal Sapphire HR, been only a month, so far so good.

the most expensive i tried was hoya---no difference also
so after that i always avoid any attempts by the optician to try to upgrade my lens, just use cheap one now

Using hoya, 1.71 index iirc.

Clear vision, coating is stronger than the Kodak lens I had. No scratches yet after 1 year plus.

don't go for branded lens like Zeiss, Hoya, etc....

Every year I change my lens. Frame very lasting I usually continue using the same for years

I go to any shop immediately I told them the spec that I want but I want Korea OEM manufactured one....

Same features like transition, progressive, etc....the Korea OEM lens can do but price become half!

Been doing that for years

I've used Zeiss, Essilor and Kodak before...I don't notice any differences. The former 2 are also way more expensive...currently using Kodak and it's cheaper.

This. And also reflectiveness. Some lens coating gives you reflection, very irritating especially when driving.

Some coating is so bad that the lenses will have fine scratches very fast, affecting night vision especially when driving.

the shop usually will show u a book with the retail price on it, and it really depends on how many percent of discount they willing to give you. It can be anywhere from 10-30%, but dont expect all to give you 30% as some of the shop are selling you service rather than the lens itself.

I found that the shop that gave me 30% did not provide as good service as the ones giving me 20%, they even measure my prescription wrongly, and I've been wearing the wrong prescription for the past 2 years, causing excessive strain to my eyes. So yeah, find one that suits your budget and provides better services for you. Good luck

I have used tokai and hoya for my multifocal lense. Both are equally good wide angle, minimum distortion. No complain on coating.

It all depends on your budget, how often your power varies, and your frame.

If your frame rosak, you need to get a new lens together; if your coating comes out after 2 years, get a new lens.

No spectacles are made to last forever, and the way we use them, you will definitely get scratches on them. At the end of the day, what you want is you can see comfortably.

used to question a lot if hoya or zeiss really worth the price.

But in the end i just go for the most reputable one. Main reason it's your most important organ (more important than your dick) cos u use it 100% of the time as long as your eyelid is not shut.

Moreover It's not like u going to change glasses every year. Handphone u can spend 3k-5k every 3 years but glasses u complain when it's 1k+ ? lol

if your power is low, just change cheaper brands
if power extremely high, then better to invest in premium brands

I can vouch for Hoya's coating, been using for 5 years, still no scratches, and I'm the type that dgaf and wipe my glasses with clothes

Check with the local smaller shops, ask them Korean multicoated lens how much to refit.

don't go for those branded shops all push you expensive lens or don't carry them

those Korean lens have catalogue, so u can check before you buy. Dont be pressured to purchase, can always leave.

couldn't agree more, mine fail within a year, i ask them to replace because still under warranty. But their coating had since improved. And of course, i took extra care of them nowadays.

I had coating issue even with hoya, zeiss

In the end i found out the main reason. Avoid exposing the lens to bath water, the most damaging is sea water and swimming pool. I used to wear glasses in beach and swimming pool because i cant wear contact lens

Been using Hoya and Tokai my whole life, but lately lens are so expensive. Maybe the ringgit.

I'm wondering if those china lense are ok? my power is 500 both and 50 astig each. Saw some 1.74 for RM500, is it ok?

Good topic i am researching to do a glasses recently.

Just curious, i believe business sometime have so call tricks happen? maybe

i saw the commemt some people said hoya can last up to 6year without scratch, some said it sh*t coating quality.

how can verify the genius of the glasses lenses when the shop handover the glasses?

I am think for Hoya Sync lll & Essilor Eyezen Blue uv crizal

Zeiss website is so unfamous for me, so i dont know to choose the the specification i want

and maybe consider nikon & Seiko.

but this week offday will go to my nearest shopping mall (sunway putra) to check the price with Hoya & Essilor.

Do you guy think its better to make glasses in shopping mall or traditional shop lot at street? example maybe chow kit?

I wanted to find out also. Asked for power around 900, and if I want the thinnest, it cost about 1.3-1.6k for zeiss.. I'm so hesitating to get one. I'm not T20.

The MOG say they have local brand can do cheaper, but didn't mention the brand name
