Firstly, it's Mac or mac, not MAC the cosmetic brand or MAC the network thing.

Mac Pro uses DDR2 667Mhz FB-DIMM, not regular DDR2 ram.

You can order from local store, get them to quote you for non-apple FB-DIMM for Mac Pro, it will cheaper, they might offer you KTA from Kingstone. But still not as cheap as getting KVR (Kingston Value RAM). But KVR does not come with the big heatsink, you might have issue of over heating. And again, FB-DIMM must install in pair.

You can also try ebay. As long as it is DDR2 667Mhz FB-DIMM it should work. Just google for the model and see if anyone use it on Mac Pro.

I have 6GB. Only the orginal 512MB x2 are from Apple.

I have:
2x 512MB - stock Apple RAM
2x 512MB - Micron brand, same model as Apple stock RAM, bought from end user.
2x 2GB - Kingston Value RAM, bought from lelong.com.my

I do not have a fix place to shop. As long as I found the best deal that's it.
Mostly from online auction or forum.

No, I do not do post production. So I do not have the hardware you mentioned.
Maybe you can contact the official manufacturer for support?

I don't think there will be many user here. In fact, I doubt there's any.

Yeah, ask them till you understand, that's why you paid for the premium price.
