Anyone has experience to apply for a ATM machine for shops/petrol station ?

The petrol station is located in rural area and the nearest ATM/Bank is 20km away. Security wise, the ATM will be place indoor and there's a security guard stay in the petrol station overnight (Petrol station is not operate 24 hours, closed at 10pm). Petrol station has insurance for Theft & Robbery.

Banks might not be interested to allocate ATM machine as it's not a strategic location so probably will try to apply for MEPS but not much information i can get.

Much appreciated if you can share your experience if you have try to apply ATM/MEPS before. TIA

Its going to be a new year so you might be in luck. Paynet has 2 methods, one they give you foc provided that the atm is used X numbers of time. If your machine fails to meet minimum usage, you have to pay the difference. The other one is you pay a monthly rental to them. But it also depends on their interest based on location. If you have a gas station, check with they guys that send you your wet stock. They should know who's pic for your area.

If MEPS dont think your location is good (low utilization), try ask them for scheme that you can pay / top up based on usage. last i remember they need x amount of transaction perday or else you need to pay the balance as rental..or ssomething along those line.

It's fair if they charge say RM1 for numbers of time short against the target usage, if the target is 1000/month, and the monthly usage is 500/month, meaning i should pay RM500 to cover the shortage. Another words RM500/month to rent the machine. But it depends on the actual target also.

They will need your daily transaction data to check how many ppl go to your station.

Minimum monthly 3000 withdrawals, any less you pay RM 1 per difference.

Can also try euronet or safeguards.

3000 usage target is quite tough to achieve, i only target those pass by vehicle to use the ATM machine as the population in the residential area around here is very low.

Euronet & safeguards seems like a good alternative.

3k is bare minimum, some quota is 5k.
Contact them, maybe can nego a better deal for you.

If your daily sales slip is less 8k, can forget about it, try to target at least 10 to 20 percent of your daily customers.

Or you can try to nego for 1 year contract, can sustain continue, cannot then terminate, at least u tried.

are you trying to increase foot traffic? or as community service? quite astonishing that there is no ATM within 70km radius.

if ATM is too much, try become "ejen bank"., though i am not sure if they still have this scheme or not.

i never used, but if understanding is correct, people can deposit to or withdraw from their bank account over counter; you'll be the banker. probably got commission for being one.

Actually there are ATM machines 20km away from the location, but you cant find a MEPS ATM within 70km radius.

Along the way there is Bank Muamalat and Bank Rakyat ATM in those Petrol station. But not in my area.

Foot traffic/Community service i would say both, most of the residents nearby are elderlies, they have to travel to town when they need to withdraw money. Same time i could have get more customer if they are here to use the ATM.

I have consider Agent Banking before, but still prefer ATM machine. Its more convenient.
