Yes, but you'll have to change the pots and it's not that easy to do.

Yep, that was me. I passed it over to Guitar Collection. It was a passive guitar, installed an active EMG 81 in the bridge position. The only thing changed was the jack, the pots weren't changed and yet it works perfectly, with the tone and volume knob tapers completely unaffected.

QUOTE(unloco @ Oct 26 2007, 01:20 PM) No no no .. Misunderstanding ..! Possible, mate. How many pots/knobs are there on your guitar? If you have a separate volume/tone knob for each pickup, wire the active pup to the original pots while the passive to 250k/500k pots.Heheheh.. I want to change from an ACTIVE guitar, to PASSIVE ... Possible? To be honest though, it's too much a hassle to keep a active/passive setup. If you want active, go active all the way and vice versa. |

I heard they'll sound bad if both are played together,
Not sure though, not an active pickup user. I totally agree with led_zep_freak. This post has been edited by jacksonyong: Oct 27 2007, 01:49 AM |
