a. Like to have some feedback from those who are using Unifi Air 5G router.

Worth upgrading?

b. How can I set it up with Unifi Plus to my TV AND also my AVR?

Normal viewing is just Unifi Plus to TV. If good movies or music, then to AVR.

What are the 2 USB for on the side of Unifi Plus?

Thanks.

the usb ports can be used for usb keyboard and mouse
or usb pendrive to play local files

Noted and thanks.

Pity it is not for output to TV or AVR. Guess that one must be via HDMI.

Are you using Unifi Air 5G?

I upgraded my Unifi to 300 Mbps a few weeks ago with a whole system replacement.

Now and then over the weeks, mobiles, cctv could not get a Wi-Fi signal. I have to restart the mobiles etc to recover the signal. I have also shutdown and restarted the unfi system.

Would anyone happen to have a similar experience? Hope you can share the solution. Yes, I will contact Unifi if my initial effort comes to a brick wall.

Thanks.

Thanks. I will check my router. Expect the unifi tech to have set it then. I will check,

Please clarify, should I enable WPA3?

I have some devices with old wifi systems. That may not work on WPA3.

Mine is now set at WPA WPA/2.

Please clarify "explain tplink ax73 settle".

Getting tired of family complaining about the wifi failures now and then.

Has anyone complained to Unifi and got a replaced 100% working router ?

Keep it disabled, WPA3 is only really needed for 6GHz, 2.4/5 still can use WPA/WPA2
ISP provided equipment is always cheaply made, even if you complain they’ll just give you another more or less same performance, it’s serviceable but will fall flat if you have quite some devices on the network

Ignore the guy, he always shills the “tm router shit buy your own router” in broken English

You can 100% get your own router and get better performance, but still remember, you can’t expect a single router to cover like a like 5K sqft property, if your house is bigger, consider looking into WiFi mesh without running physical cables for access points. YMMV of course as mesh is still subjective to how your house is laid out

Thanks.

I dont know how to set up a new router. Too complicated with all the settings. Modern router is now nearly plug and play?

Can you recommend a router compatible for Unifi (phone, unifi programs, routing, etc)?

Thanks.

don't use WPA, it's very outdated.

use WPA3 if you want latest standard.

stick to WPA2 if your client mix can't all support WPA3.

My current setting is for WPA2 and 3. Maybe that is the cause of my wifi problem. Thought it should be smart to select the correct one, depending on the devices.

Just to be certain. If I change to WPA2 and later I need to change to the current WPA2/3, it is changing this setting and NO other setting changes. Right?

Thanks.

For 1gb upgrading to 2gb, unfortunately no. In such case then you can consider the 3 months free offered by TM.
Not plug and play. You still need to setup PPPOE credentials and Wifi. Try get a friend who can help you do the setup.
There are many router that is compatible with Unifi, depending on needs. You can get recommendation from this thread: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658096/

When I get a new router, follow the current settings and try? Ha.

Or follow the instructions with the router.

Thanks.

for maximum compatibility with ALL in current generation, use WPA2.
if presented with futher option whether to use WPA2-TKIP or WPA2-AES, chose AES over TKIP.

PSK or Enterprise, that one is up to your environment.
I don't expect humans to have RADIUS or portal or equivalent lying around at home.

I have changed to WPA2 yesterday. So far, no more wifi failures. Will know by tomorrow if this is a success. Normally I have 1 -2 wifi failures daily.

Thanks to all for the help.

After setting the router to WPA2, no more wifi signal loss for 3 days (vs 1-2 times a day before the change). I thought I had solved my wifi problem. Later, I used cable to my PC instead of wifi. The loss of wifi signal happened again. For some reason, if I connect the LAN cable to the MyCloud mirror, wifi to PC, wifi stays healthy.

Appreciate feedback on the problem and solution.

My preference is LAN to PC and Mycloud, Rest all via wifi.

Thanks.

No experience on that, you might need to login into the router page and monitor the ram and cpu utilization, could be nearing to its limit?
*
thanks.

correct me if I am wrong, one can plug and unplug the LAN cable without shutting down the router or PC. Right?

My router usage is not high, just a PC, 3 mobiles and 5 CCTV. Think mine can take 36 wifi devices,

yes,is a plug and play thing , you don't have to shut down or restart just to get a connection

Thinking aloud, is there a similar thing with wired setup as with WPA on wifi? Settings I can try on wired configuration?

Thanks.
