Your area gateway has a very much optimized routing. Correct MTU set also. Nice.

that guy seems to be from johor so it looks like less one hop because kl gateway goes to johor gateway before going out to usa via submarine cable

that could also be why datacenter is better to be located at johor besides there is no difference in quality of worker between sg/kl/jb because the industry mostly made up of communicators who learn up technical

edit : not sg but submarine cable

Is anyone having trouble with EA servers these past few days or is it just me? I keep getting timed out when launching games from cloud save. Using mobile hotspot seems fine.

Mine after 1Gbps Pro Upgrade. Last time 800Mbps YEP RM139(internet rm109+aneka rm30). Now RM 208.90 (internet rm198+ultimate max promo rm0.90+netflix premium upgrade rm10) which no price change(the extra RM10 discount goes to netflix premium upgrade) with previous package. How about the other member that complete upgrade to 1Gbps?

Same as mine, 19 hops. I restart my router multiple times and got different IPs but it's always 19.

Mine Johor 18hops.
I dont think Location is one of the factor that affect hops.
It should depends of routing and IPs.

People, if you go to:
https://browserleaks.com/

It clearly says:
"BrowserLeaks is a suite of tools that offers a range of tests to evaluate the security and privacy of your web browser. These tests focus on identifying ways in which websites may leak your real IP address, collect information about your device, and perform a browser fingerprinting."

It is not a tool to test routing, never one to begin with. Always research what you read online, especially in LYN, including information given by me. I might just bullshit you one day you know.

I notice in LYN people tend to post half truth, truth but wrong context, or total misinformation without anybody calling the poster out.

Is the international connection having an issue? I can get roughly 64kbps (dial-up) to connections in Japan / Europe and US only. Even VPN makes no difference.

The number of hops is probably just a simple traceroute from their server and got nothing to do with routing doh.gif

Routing, peering, transit and bgp is so complex these days and it's hard to determine from a simple test

Depend on the technician in your area. But you can keep complaining until they come and fix it.

True that's a plausible possibility. But we also have another forumer in Johore with 18 hops. Im not discounting your gateway distance suggestion because it does make sense but why the other Johorean gets 18 like us in KL?

And those with higher count of hops like 19 etc could also very well be behind cgnat hence the additional 1 more hops from the average of 18 like the rest of us here, if they're not then its just a bad gateway routing adding that extra hop. Those with below 18 like that guy surely on a optimized gateway since they skip one hop or more to the destination. Im not talking about international hop but local gateway as you put it.

Back to the why 17/18 hops from the same region/area/edge concentrator... My best take comes down to TM bad local routing. It should be less hops for Johoreans as you put it no doubt about it.

Exactly. But some here will flame you all ip get the same local gateway treatment just because every ip get the same international routing. And they'll also push ipv6 mtu tweak on ipv4 pppoe. This forum has been pretty low quality for a long time as one put it. We're all bunch of dumba**es except for one.

Thank you for this.

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=96888813

You just prove my point that different ip gets different gateway treatment to the same remote destination with this post. Also all ip gets 13 hops but different gateways with different latency results hence what I said about some ip are better for some people in some area. As for me 124.xxx give me less hops and better latency than others but it might not be the same for everyone. How I wish some people here can comprehend this simple result and not go into unnecessary flaming.

Please don't have hard feelings. We all could learn from each other with the fast changing tech world.
But this forum has been pretty low quality for a long time.
It started when everyone tell everyone else to hard reset their router when there is a problem.
Then it become disable IPv6.
Then it become TM router sucks, go buy X, Y Z brand.
Then now everything get swept under "routing issues" without diagnostic.

Not saying it is not the cause, but without diagnostic there is no concrete evidence it is indeed the problem for that one user.

Sure.
