No truth to claims of govt MPs switching to Perikatan, says Bersatu Youth chief

PETALING JAYA: It is untrue that 10 government MPs will switch their allegiances to Perikatan Nasional, says Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

The Bersatu Youth chief denied Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof's claims made recently.

"I don't see any truth in what Mohd Redzuan says. He is not an MP. This is just some talk being thrown around, some kind of psychological warfare.

"Maybe someone from Bersatu is trying to console themselves and came up with this rumour," said Wan Ahmad.

He said there could be further attempts to pinch Bersatu MPs and he advised them to alert the top leadership if they are approached.

"Do tell us so we can counter it with police or anti-corruption reports," he added.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad also criticised the unity government for being undemocratic by not giving Opposition MPs constituency development funds.

"They stopped our MPs from receiving allocations that are rightly ours," he said.

Earlier on Saturday (Dec 2), Mohd Redzuan claimed that at least 10 government MPs, including those from PKR, may join Perikatan due to disappointment with the current government administration.
However, Mohd Redzuan, who is a former entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, declined to name the MPs involved.

On Tuesday (Nov 28), Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal joined the list of Opposition MPs backing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Four other Bersatu MPs had previously pledged support for Anwar's leadership.

They are Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim and Jeli MP Zahari Kechik.
