I think because Deepal invested in a massive factory in Thailand that supposed to be a regional and global RHD hub already with more than enough capacity
so maybe they no plan to CKD here so don't need rush, eventually once tax incentives all over they will just flood in from Thailand factory perhaps idk
maybe bermaz also can't control this cuz Deepal want to use their thailand factory maybe
Many Chinese makers.have factories in Thailand, including BYD, Changan, Great Wall Motor (GWM), SAIC (MG), Neta, and GAC
Yet , their cars are already sold here .
Changan's super late arrival can only be understood by referring to how well received here with other big 4 China state legacy car makers have been: BAIC, Dongfeng and SAIC (Willing and MG, etc) have been here which i think have not been great thank be honest aside from MG, many seems to not create much interest as seen from the sale charts. Perhaps that may cause some hesitation on Changan's part.
Changan is however doing quite good in Thailand (following SAIC- MG's footsteps in some way with Deepal brand), so I think they should really forget about all their inhibition and just get things rolling with Bermaz already.
With EPMB appointed as contract assembler for Great Wall Motor Malaysia and BAIC Motor Corporation Ltd, then by SAIC and Xpeng while Stelantis Kedah already doing local assemby of Leapmotor C10 and Great wall Malaysia ( GWM ) started local assembly in Melaka with the first Wey G9 (a premium Chinese MPV) and not forgetting Chery Malaysia, partnering with Sime Darby at the Inokom plant in Kulim for models like the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 8, and Omoda 5, and also opened its own plant in Shah Alam for premium Jaecoo models (J7/J8), Changan seems to be the only one left out here.
But late is better than never , so we will wait and see
