I think Steam Deck would be the best bet if you don't mind it's size as it can virtually play emulator games and AA/AAA games as well.

But personally I'm just waiting for the Steam Deck 2 or if you can't wait there's the refreshed Steam Deck OLED.

Cool, I am actually looking specifically on older retro games and ps 1 emulator system. Like those Gameboy handheld design. Dam nostalgic

I personally have the Miyoo Mini v2 and it's a good device for what you're looking for. And take the advice from the video and install OnionOS as it makes the device much more bearable to live with.

I have the following:

Steam Deck : for PC games, especially Diablo IV (lol). Heavy and large. Unpocketable. Can do most emulation up to Switch/PS2. Can do arrrr with some effort.

Miyoo Mini Plus (MMP) : for Nintendo stuff, and Apotris (tetris homebrew for GBA). Note that MMP can do some DS emulation too. Pocketable and light.

PS Vita (hacked) : PS1, PSP (efficient as almost native), PS Vita and all Retroarch / Nintendo stuff that is nice to play on a 5" screen. Has PKJG is basically an arrrrr store play all you can download buffet. Basically the size of a handphone and fairly light. Has nostalgia value.

My advice : if u dont care about nostalgia, and dont care about pc games - get the Retroid Pocket 3 Plus.

these smaller devices run PS1 great but i find out that playing on a 3.5" screen....less syiok, but is more portable

market has been flooded by all these no name handhelds for quite some time. i usually ignore them coz they don't worth anything after the hype, and new one is always faster better than the old one. unlike stuff from sony, nintendo, sega which ppl still admire. ppl still restore and mod gameboy dmg-01, famicom today.
