Hi folks that use Celcomdigi Postpaid 5G SE.

How has the 5g speed been? Saw that it is supposedly capped to 100mbps.

Do you know if it uses Celcom or Digi network, or does it use both? Couldn't find the info in FAQ.

Right now, I am comparing the Celcomdigi Postpaid 5G SE RM40 plan vs Hotlink Postpaid RM 45.

Hotlink doesn't cap the speed, which is nice. However they have specific data bucket for 5G only versus Celcomdigi that combines the data bucket of 4G and 5G together.

Is anyone using this plan? Is it good?
This promo until Aug24 only?
*
I have just started using this a few days ago. I am getting the full offer of 40GB.

Speed: on the first few hours, I was throttled to 100mbps on 4G and 5G. Eventually it went full speed. I am getting good speed in general indoor (including malls) and outdoor on my Pixel 7

Nice perk is having the unlimited data streaming on 5G for Netflix YouTube etc. i use YouTube music, and from my test it's also included in the offer and not charged for the data.

Overall I feel like it's a better offer than Hotlink's similar offering

• Got new phone.
• Want to transfer eSIM number from old phone to new phone.
• Digi Prepaid Kuning plan
• Went to Digi Store Cheras Selatan
• No more eSIM for prepaid. Only for Postpaid.
• Effective since CelcomDigi merger.
• Convert eSIM back to SIM card.
• Paid RM10 for SIM card.
• Sad

tl;dr No more eSIM for Digi Prepaid
*
Weird. I just got my Celcomdigi prepaid kuning eSIM at Digi Store Setapak Sentral a week plus ago. It was very quick, just need IC and number and they show the QR code on their tablet and I can use it immediately

I ported from another provider, they gave me a physical SIM. Once it's ported (next day), I came back and got the eSIM conversion. No charge

Compared eNBs and Cellmapper. In Cyberjaya, still generally connecting to Digi towers.

In Shah Alam however, my grandma's Celcom number is using the same tower as my Digi line.

interesting
How do you tell which enb belongs to which Telco?

Use Cellmapper and/or NetMonster on Android.

Celcom eNBs usually start with "1", for example. DiGi eNBs have a different convention.

At home, my phone is using a Celcom tower. Because the tower has a "1xxxx" eNB.
*
QUOTE(jasontanky @ Oct 30 2024, 07:56 AM)
CellMapper is the best for Digi user, the network integration is only for 4G and 2G networks are 5G is belong to DNB.

So this is applicable when phone connected to 4G only

Digi users will see MY CELCOM at the app bar in merged area, and see Digi in not merged area

Celcom is a bit tricky, I will recommend to use NetMonster app as the interface is much intuitive. If you are in Central and North Peninsula Malaysia and East Malaysia, if eNb is 5 digits means connected to CelcomDigi, 6 digits means Celcom

If you from South and East Coast, it is a bit tricky as even CelcomDigi will have 6 digits, I would recommend to look at the EARFCN value, as well as all those neighbor cells underneath. If digit like 1850, 3350, or 525/524 appears means the network had merged
*
Thank you for sharing these.

So this Cellmapper screenshot shows Digi at the app bar. But, it's EAFRCN is 1850. Does that mean it's still not merged, or already merged?

I am on celcomdigi kuning, only recently ported in.

You are connected to merged tower, it is showing Digi because your phone software properly reports MOCN tower data to apps (like CD Kuning/Digi shows Digi and CD Biru/Celcom shows Celcom when connected to merged tower)
*
QUOTE(jasontanky @ Oct 30 2024, 11:37 AM)
As said by Luqman, yes. Your phone correctly reported your home telco unlike many phones like Samsung and Xiaomi that did not which you can use that loop hole to identify whether the tower is integrated.

You are indeed connected to a CelcomDigi tower, putting your SIM card on Samsung and Xiaomi phone and open CellMapper will show MY CELCOM instead

Try use Netmonster app to see neighbor cells, u should see EARFCN from original Celcom network such as 1650, 3150, 375, and 3600
*

So if I am connected to merged network, these are some of the EARFCN I should see on NetMonster based on what has been shared in the recent posts: 1650, 3150, 375, 3600, 3350, or 525/524

Oh wow, i have learned so much today. Thank you for sharing.

This is what net monster reports on my Pixel 7. out of curiosity, I have also included a quick 4G and 5G speed test as well as comparison. They both are done to the same test server (Digi Malaysia). This is on the edge of Ampang next to forest area.

I am impressed that
- 4g speed can reach more than 200 Mbps. ( Have also been told that the Pixel 7 modem is not too good, so perhaps Qualcomm modem would be even better)
- 4g upload speed is higher than 5G

Pixel 7 Pro 3CA 561Mbps CelcomDigi Merged Area
Non related but would recommend you to root your Pixel 7 Pro so you can see these details (including SIB1 which you can see whether it's a CelcomDigi merged tower or not as if merged there are two PLMN which are 502 19 and 502 16) and unlimited Google Photos backup

Thank you for the suggestion. I haven't rooted my Pixel since the 5. It was quite cumbersome to play cat and mouse game to make sure payment apps work. I think knowing the EARFCN is enough for me. And yes, I also have the OG Pixel for Google photos backup

QUOTE(NoNameSoldier @ Oct 31 2024, 02:16 PM)
Unsure why would people still use digi and celcom. They are worse, not just network experiences but also customer services too
*

+ 1 as the others, the network is better than Maxis for me too, especially for me as I travel to rural areas a lot and I was testing both networks. And the value has improved a lot in these last two years from heavy competitions. Maxis customer service is miles better though.

I went for CelcomDigi because Hotlink prepaid doesn't have an eSIM option.

does CD really limit the 5g speed for plans with essential speed?
*
I think it has started to be limited. I am on CelcomDigi Kuning and was able to get gigabit speed before, now it's limited to 100mbps.

Noticed this started a few days ago.

plan to mnp to pek kuning, can I directly mnp to esim or must get physical sim first?
*

you need to MNP to physical SIM first. And once it's ported over successfully , you can go to Digi Store again to get the eSIM. It took me 1 day plus in total to port to physical and eSIM. Pretty fast.

QUOTE(prosibu @ Nov 11 2024, 11:30 PM)
I tot all prepaid are limites to 100mbps? Including the add on?
*
It wasn't enforced before. You can see the previous speed tests below where both 4G and 5G have gotten more than 100mbps.

Recently they start to enforce it on my CelcomDigi Kuning prepaid. It will spike up in the beginning, and then throttled to 100mbps for both 4G and 5G.

From my testing before, CelcomDigi has better indoor coverage (in malls) than Maxis Hotlink. For that, I am staying with this plan. If Maxis Hotlink improves the indoor coverage, and provide eSIM for prepaid, I would switch as they do not cap their speed.

I had a similar experience trying to port out from Yes.

The staff at the Digi Store Express asked for RM10 for the SIM. Which should be free as stated on the Digi site. And of course no receipts and cash only.

It's really annoying to hear and see this.

I ported into CelcomDigi Kuning at Digi Store in Setapak Central few months ago, was done under 5 mins no charge. They gave me a physical SIM.

The next day once it's ported, I went again to get eSIM and also done under 5 mins no charge.

Yes certainly no charge.

I was also on physical sim and wanted to change to eSIM. Went to digi store A, the staff said only postpaid can get eSIM. I left.

Went to store B, when asked for eSIM, straightaway the staff changed to eSIM for me for free without any questions  asked.

Obviously this is individual branch or individual staff evil behavior.

QUOTE(westlife @ Jan 6 2025, 11:19 PM)
new prepaid for digi indeed must be physical sim first. then like u said, subsequently only can convert to esim. If completely new to digi and sign up a prepaid, maybe need to pay this is common Becos need to buy starter sim pack. whether is it rm10 then I am not so sure.

If port in from other telco to new digi prepaid, it is FREE, even for the physical sim given. I had done this recently only.

And once no ported over, can go to change to eSIM. And again it is also FREE.

Squeeze ARPU, this can be marked as ARPU RM32, makes the financial report looks a lot better. Nevertheless, it is still cheaper than Hotlink RM35 100GB for now, without 4G and 5G split

(30/28)*30=32.14285714
About RM32 per 30 days
*
Not bad

Add RM 3 more and get 150 GB data 4g/5g an unlimited calls with TuneTalk epik35. Also using CelcomDigi network

Can't comment on this. What I can say is that Digi on 4G is getting me 143 Mbps, Hotlink 4g is 33 mbps download. They both are new SIM card from this year

I can't see the box of surprise deals that I see in my Digi app. And it doesn't show the remaining date left on the homepage. For now, I think the my Digi app is better for those reasons
