can i just buy a new prepaid sim and buy a roaming pass to use oversea with 5g roaming without any local plan?

Buy a foreign SIM at Lazada/Shopee is much cheaper than buying a roaming pass.

Some people don’t want that hassle. Like my father he rather pay for the roaming pass then buy another sim.

Yes, existing user.
But for his case, buy a new Malaysia SIM then buy a roaming pass.

legit old school telco. those were the days, got Mobikom 017 during that time too hmm.gif

You are wrong, 017 was Adam then TimeCel now merged into Maxis.
Mobikom 018 (analog) no longer in service.

CelcomDigi include
019 Celcom
013 Emartel (MRCB) then TMTouch (Telekom)
016 Mutiara (Vincent Tan / Berjaya) then Digi

Yes, my bad, confused it with mobikom 018, so is UM took over Mobikom or just the 018 only?
I know the celcom way back is TRI, and when through many logo change, remember the dove? many version of it.  dry.gif

Mobikom 018 was owned by Telekom Malaysia. It used 018 prefix in 1990s then discontinued. Telekom Malaysia acquired Emartel 013 and renamed it TMTouch, then acquired TRI/Celcom 019, so 013 & 019 merged to form TM International which was later known as Celcom Axiata (demerger from Telekom Malaysia).

Vincent Tan divested Mutiara (Digi Swisscom) in late 1990s due to financial crisis 1997. In 2000s he set up U Mobile and was given part of 018 (not all) numbers.

I didn't realize I have been with Celcom/Digi for so long.

Anyone longer than 17 years?

I have been with Celcom/Digi for more than 20 years.
Originally Celcom (013/019) then MNP to Digi 8 years ago.
CelcomDigi App now shows 8 years only. sad.gif
