Yeah I guess more pistons would consume more fuel.

more like how you ride it though.

The 800 has gobs of torque at lower rpm so there is no need to rev the engine up to make power. But yeah, Ive seen 14L+/100km on instant readout going flat out. It would drain the tank within 100kms.

Last 200km santai ride at the speed limit or slightly over only averaged 3.7

ironically, the 800 burns about the same amount of fuel as my single piston Dominar 400 if going 130. Its mostly rpms and throttle opening. at 130, the 800 is at 5000rpm and very minimal throttle to maintain. the 400 is somewhere north of 7000rpm and half throttle.

quite a few factors, and depends heavily on the fuel mapping

stock mapping maybe one tank going 200~220, after remap (14.7 map to 12.8~13.2) goes to 170~200 which is about right given the 11% in richer AFR

then, 4cyl bike usually tune for high rev, and lower rev for less cyl count, generally, main reason is the stroke length:
- short stroke = higher rpm
- long stroke = lower rpm

example like 600cc 4cyl will rev happy around 8k RPM = 0.6 x 8000 = 4800 displacement
whereas a 800cc twin rev happy around 5k = 0.8 x 5000 = 4000 displacement

exactly.

in general, all things being equal, the more cyc you have, you would be dealing with more friction and higher reving engines tend to be less efficient as revs go up. Short stroke high rev engines have very short time for the air charge to burn efficiently and completely.

But fuel efficiency usually depends on your right hand.

But dont get me wrong. 4 cycs are fun, and they do sound good. But in city riding, i still like the torque of a well sorted twin because im not going to spend all day at 10000rpm just to make power on a small 4.

nope. all good. Even VC is still in spec (didnt change shims at all at 30K VC), but i just changed 3 shims as they are close to tolerence limit. Cams are fine in case anyone is concerned about KTM cheese cam.

Next VC at 100K, so its another year off. That one will go more through check to see the condition of the engine.

23NM - 33NM from 3000-7000rpm is a bit weak sauce for me as thats where its usually at during normal city riding. But I get it if its a weekend bike where you can really open it up.

still would go for something with a meatier mid range like the 675 or 800 considering the price isnt that much more.

Seems about right when I had a friendly roll on pull with a VOOM. The 800 just monstered it.

Yeah I went for the Voom because of its looks. The new 500SR looks like the others now so might as well just go for the 675.

Since the ZXMOTO 500RR is coming in, might as well throw in the dyno comparison of it with the old 500SR VOOM:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

So the retuned version fares better against the ZXMOTO now.. except that the ZXMOTO is 168KG, compared to the 187KG of the 500SR and 194KG of the VOOM.

Based on teasers the ZXMOTO will be sold under RM30K.

ZXmoto 500RR has single swing arm, easy choice that for the look. The red one really look like baby panigale.
Their 820RR would be interesting to see, not much screaming inline 3 in the market.
R9 isnt coming here, Triumph 675 Daytona is long gone, mv agusta F3 is way too expensive laugh.gif

I think the 500SR would be having a hard time slotting into the lineup.

With the ZX500RR slotting in under 30k as rumoured, pricing the 500SR to match at that price point would literally kill its own 450SR currently at 29k.

There is also the QJ450 4 cyc coming in at 28k.

Also the top end is bracketed by the 675SR at 38k.

You need to compare a more equivalent CFmoto to your MT15. Perhaps a Papio.

Hahaha.. what a comparison.

Wait till he finds out how much good tyres cost on a big bike.

Whats it with MT15/R15M guys that always like to compare their bikes to big bikes? Met a guy at a bike wash that says he put in 20K on his R15M and claims he can do 180??. 20K on top of the bike is almost as much as what I paid for my 800NK.

I actually encountered a similar person at a test ride event when I was still riding last year. It's probably just part of the fun for some of them since I've heard of people spending 10k+ on kapchais before.

But yeah, 20k is a lot of money.

I guess, people mod their bikes because they enjoy the process (or torture)
there's a bragging right to tell a 150cc 4 stroke bike going 180 vs a 500cc that can barely make it

bragging rights and stupidity is a fine line
then again, there's a saying, motorcycling is not a hobby that makes sense, it's a hobby of passion

so, to each their own

I have bikes that I mod, and bikes that I keep stock
