Hi, I have bought a sigma used sigma 18-35mm f1.8 canon mount around ~RM1700-1800 2-3 years back. Now I’m planning to resell it. How much is a reasonable price to resell it?

The lens usability is still fine, but the cosmetics looks old where the rubber has white stain/dirt, the wording is fading, some surface scratches on the lens
I have read some mention 20-30% off what you bought, but i am not sure if it applies to older lens conditions.
When i bought it at that price the condition was also quite used already.

Where did you keep the lens during the entire span of owning it? In your camera bag with silica gel or in the dry box?

Lens with dried off rubbers are no biggy, but scratches usually will make a difference

Most importantly its entirely depending on the optics condition where the auto focus is doing well and the inner glass not covered by fungus/dirt

If your lens are covered with dirt/minor fungus, its fixable at a cost of rm300 per lens (freelancer price)

But if its covered with heavy fungus, its no longer fixable ya. It will be stained there, and affecting the optics

To check if your lens
1. Open up the lens cap (both front and rear)
2. Open up the aperture ring, u will be able to see through the lens
3. U can see the lens condition with torchlight

Clean Vs Dirty lens

If the condition is all clean, selling at 1600-1800 shouldn't be any problem

No heavy fungus, but i just notice that there seem to be small dust specs on the inside of the lens as i could not wipe it off from the outside. Does this deplete the lens value much?

How much decrease in value if there is slight dust and fungus, or small scratch on lens body surface?

hard to say until expert really diagnose your lens

usually dust and fungus affect the image quality, but amateurs wont be able to tell the difference unless its real bad

and yes it depletes the lens value

as for the value, its always willing buyer willing seller

absolutely depending on how long u willing to wait for the "higher price" or u want to sell them in a hurry
