Hello guys,

Been comparing laptop prices in Malaysia vs US and noticed a big difference, in some cases up to $500 cheaper outside Malaysia.

Has anyone imported a gaming laptop from Amazon/Ebay/Freight forwarders from outside of Malaysia? What was your experience like? did you have to pay custom clearance fees? Have you faced any issues with Warranty claiming etc?

Overall is it cheaper compared to buying locally?

Thanks for your input.

unless you buy laptops with worldwide warranty you will run into issues getting warranty claim in Malaysia if you received a lemon unit. On top of that if the order arrived different from what you order its a pain in the ass and the cost to ship it back would make it a hassle for anyone to attempt it

If your order is more than MYR500 then you need to pay customs fees to get it cleared. Not sure about the exact percentage

i buy alot laptop oversea.
85% used laptop, since new unit warranty wont work anywhere..

to minimize the risk, you have to buy MORE.
so the Gain is bigger than the "losses"

buy 1 unit, risk is bigger. ( either good, or lemon. )

Depends.

Importing via re-shipper is straight forward. No need to do any paperwork. Just pay up the customs tax etc. online. Mine was DHL. Warranty, consider no warranty lor. Unless you get international warranty.

Cheaper? Depends. You probably get it cheaper during Lazada/Shopee sale. With the USD to MYR now, it's not really worth it. Unless the difference is more than USD500. Coz the custom tax is about 10% depending how you declare it.
