Hi, I am currently using AMD 5600 and MSI B550 Gaming Plus, want to ask why when I tried to plug 1x 4.0 M.2 and 1x 3.0 M.2 into their respective speed slot, only 4.0 able to detect? but when I plug 4.0 M.2 into 3.0 slot and 3.0 M.2 into 4.0, both can be detected... got SIFU know what happen?

Wow, sounds like a bug. Did you try updating your MB Chipset drivers?
Also did you check on MSI page to see if any of the BIOS mention of M2 detection issue?

I did update to the latest version and view other's user solution but could not find an actual working solution..

Cos 4.0 can run at 3.0 speed but not vice versa.

Ur mobo, despite slot for both speed, but when 2 slots are occupied, function as a single channel.

so what you mean is that I will not able to run 1x 4.0 and 1x 3.0 at their respective speed? if that is the case, aren't they little weird? Spec sheet stated support 1x 4.0 and 1x 3.0 but maximum only 2x 3.0...

seems like either bug or lanes problem(not enough).

There is only been 2 NVME (1x 4.0. 1x 3.0) and 1 very old GPU (GTX 970 PCIE 3.0), so I don't think not enough lane is the cause..

Only 1st PCIE x16 is applied and my GPU not even 4.0, only 3.0 which does not take up as much lane as full 4.0 x16, other PCIE lanes are empty..

have you checked your Processor? since the PCIe4.0 support comes from the CPU not the B550 chipset. chipset only supports PCIe3.0 on M2_2 slot.

AMD 5600.. I think this CPU should have enough lane for simply connection? 1x GPU 3.0, 1x M.2 4.0 and 1x M.2 3.0..

what brand is your m2 4.0 ssd? also have you check setting in BIOS?

Kingston fury renegade, my bios could not find specific ssd setting in my bios but I did try to limit the PCIE runs at x8, return same result...

Have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version?

Yes, also tried set all combination between PCIE and Chipset from Gen 4 to Gen 3 and PCIE lane from (x8 + x8) to (x8 + x4 + x4)

Can you get another processor to try? Or other pcie 4.0 SSD?
