anything USDM, JDM, EUDM isn't gonna reach us
when it eventually reaches us, it's gonna be a tin kosong thanks to asean's weak transport policy and ministers

those are the cars we could only dreamt of

I think reverse ba, import policy too strong to protect local brand till they have to design tin kosong to make profit otherwise car price over the sky like in SINGAPORE.

Personally don’t think company like to waste money redesign same products for different markets if they can sell same stuff over and over and over again for high profit margin.

look at the whole asean....almost nobody is getting those car...and those car has no local brand to protect anyway
these companies actually make a lot of $$$ designing and selling tin kosong version to the whole asean because whatever they throw to us also they knew we would buy
the only country in asean that is getting JDM and USDM model is brunei....but even their models are the lowest spec version

Can’t fully agree with you there, cost of new mega factory, new production lines and extra hiring more than outweigh the benefit of selling tin kosong. IMO, Japan factory more than enough to fulfill asean market.

The only reason they have to opt for tin kosong is due to import duty forcing Toyota to acquire daihatsu for the purpose of asean market. Thailand, Indonesia(10%~125%), Malaysia (60%~105%) and Philippines all have excise duty/import duty on imported vehicle from Japan(CBU) to force car manufacturers to build/assemble their products locally(CKD).

well, it's not really CKD now isn't it? laugh.gif
the mega factory is still a thailand, it's still exported from thailand to the rest of asean laugh.gif

only a very small number is CKD here in MY...rest of it is still imported
