How you guys determine its fresh and better/high quality? What if the supplier is the same???
I can get fresh and high quality meat & vege at Lotus's, need to be picky, check and take. Or, you guys just take and leave the kind of people.

My wife went to a chinese shop in the wet market in cheras and bought RM1k worth of sea cucumbers.

only go JG/VG/Bens only if want a cleaner and tidier supermarket experience

Lotus/NSK is notorious on hygiene issues, that said NSK has the cheapest produce pre gram. only issue with NSK is their vegetables cannot last, last time buy their veges if didnt separate package and store in kitchen towel guaranteed rot within 3 days. Lotus/VG/JG can last 1.5 weeks at least.

however these days most of their vege pricing for Lotus, Bens, VG etc all almost similar for local vege. heck even against local wet market also almost same price

For some people here, buy there = fresh / better quality at high price = T20, lmao

For me, I always buy fish directly from fisherman after they catch from sea

I actually like nsk. Huge section of fresh-looking meat. Dont know about price.

are the prices really that big a difference?

milo got diff tier

top tier = foreign imported milo
mid tier = localized milo
cheap tier = milo knockoff. no, not vico or ovaltine. is those with green packaging choco malt drink trying to pretend be milo

I tot local milo taste better? Many malaysians bring own milo go overseas because milo there tak sedap.

I hate those groceries store lack of this and that. Problematic for me when i want to shop at 1 go during weekends to restock my cooking ingredients.

So, I don't mind paying more..

I think generally JG and VG have organic items that cater to the T20s but also non organic stuff for M40, but where they really excel I think is hygiene and handling of their perishable products. Just my experience.

I ban hypermarket based on 2 criteria. 1)failed food handling and 2)refrigerant system

Most ppl know which failed under such criterion

I shop in JG (Eco Galleria @ Johor) mainly because they have better non-halal selection, milk-on-tap and possibly better selection of seafood/meat/vege.

However, this doesn't rule out the possibility of me buying seafood/meat/vege from the likes of Econsave/NSK etc.

i go jaya grocer for specialized products, e.g. japanese soba and tsuyu. I find it strange that even aeon doesn't carry those, only jaya has

U will surprised. Some stuff even Lotus is more expensive than Jaya Grocer. Jaya Grocer is not that expensive actually. Village Grocer, Mercato and BIG all is the real expensive

can get diskaun on fruits and vegies in jaya grocer if you got AIA insurance

if u like sweet and heavier taste(oily/milky) then local milo yes

ang moh milo more coco taste ..something closer to vanhouten choco powder

If the supplier is the same but village/Jaya grocer can keep it presentable and fresh till late evening, saya much about how lotus handles their perishable.
