How long ago was this? Mind sharing what complications were there and how much NICU costs were? All info appreciated.

4 years already.. at the start of MCO tongue.gif

at a private hospital NICU...

2.5 months for my dotter, 3 months for my boy

parents get 24hrs visiting hours.. no limit on how long can stay..

always got 1 nurse monitoring my twins round the clock.. doctor visit once daily at least..

we had to bring clothes, diapers, wet wipes, milk powder/breast milk and milk bottle..
(hospital can provide those but expensive so nurse ask us bring our own)

complications during NICU stay? premie can stop breathing suddenly.. so need to put in incubator and eventually breathing aid

doctor goal b4 discharging is two weeks no issues with the bb..

b4 discharge, mum will stay in hospital for 3 nites so nurse can train mum how to take care

total cost~ RM210K

Thanks very much. May i know what complications you faced since your children were in the NICU or 2.5-3 months?
*
two main complications for all premies that is so early: weight n lung development..

when born both were around 1kg in weight

first three weeks they were in the incubator.. tubes n needles going in and out everywhere..

one of them had some reflux issue which can cause milk to go into the lungs.. that is resolved with medication...

that 10 weeks in NICU was to see them grow into a normal weight and develop their lungs..

when discharge both where around 2.8kgs... basically normal weight at week 40...

ur baby at 35weeks sud be no issue..

give birth already?
if not, ask ur wife to not be so nervous and rest more.. keep the baby in the womb as long as possible. that is the best place for a BB to grow smile.gif

if can hit 37 weeks, basically normal birth...

Week 35 now. Weight 1.9kg. Yes target is to reach 37 weeks and hopefully 2.3kg if possible. If 37 weeks and 2.5kg then great. May not need NICU.

piece of advise..

if your BB needs to be in NICU after mum has been discharged, and if mum is going to a confinement center, please visit and support mum a lot when the BB is not there with her.. for most mums it can be depressing for mum when all other mums there are nursing their BB while she is just alone.

post natal depression is no joke yoo..

How's your twins doing now?
*
both 4 years olds.. and doing fine..

but i think their respiratory organs r weaker.. always get flu and cough..
becoz these organs r the last to develop in the womb

doctor say lets wait until they are 7++ years old.. sud be able to see some improvement.

of coz it is not so serious until they cant handle physical activities..
currently they can run around the playground for 2 hours with no issue
