IT graduate from Early August this year, how much salary would you've asked for in my situation:

Academic Qualification: Bachelor Degree of Computer Science (major in Software Engineering), graduated with CGPA OF 3.9++ from a quite prestigious university I suppose

Internship Experience: Almost worthless (tasks assigned and performed have little to none relevance to skillset needed for area of interest, which is backend development)

Aside of good fundamentals and academic tracks, I have no worthwhile experience from internship, no exposure to skills on demand (frameworks like Java Springboot, Asp.Net, etc.), no nothing.

So what do you fellas think? What can a noob like me expect for my first job?

When asking for salary (no matter how many years of working experiences), bear in mind how many candidates are the hiring manager scanning through and interviewing.

For fresh graduates, all the hiring manager expects are following:-
1) Does he/she has the right learning attitude?
2) He/she can be good in academic, but does he/she have the problem solving skills and what it takes to perform well in the job?
3) What's the company's budget in hiring for this role?
4) Why should I pay more for this fresh graduate?

If I were you, be confident and ask what's the company's budget for the role. If the company offer range of RM4k-RM5k for fresh graduates, I would say it's not too bad. However, everyone is different and also depends on the jobscope etc.

Just be reminded there are a lot of fresh graduates out there.
