Well they did give you Hennig Berg in return smile.gif He is still the only player to have won 2 Premiership titles with 2 different teams.

Yeah... That's true.. smile.gif

Would respect those who still stick to Rovers. Mind you, during those days back then.. they were the strongers competitors besides than Liverpool and United for the EPL. But I would say after Dalglish left, the team was never the same again.

They also had a reliable reserve striker in Kevin Gallagher. Also, a lot of the ammunition was supplied by Stuart Ripley on the right flank.

The current team of McCarthy + Santa Cruz upfront and Pedersen & Bentley on the flanks are doing well also biggrin.gif

Santa Cruz looks to be the bargain buy for Rovers in the summer. Also their CB, Samba nod.gif

Anyway, there are rumours [link] of Mark Hughes to replace Jol at WHL. Opinion? unsure.gif

I agree, Santa Cruz is indeed turning out to be a real bargain. Such has been McCarthy's form that he now has his own song. I have no idea why Bentley is yet to turn out for England's senior side.

I guess both you and me know the answer which we had discussed/mentioned many time in the England thread biggrin.gif Plus the sudden back to form [for England] of SWP aren't helping either.

Bentley keep getting in and out the senior squad recently but didn't played much. But his form for Blackburn has been thumbup.gif , even outshine Pedersen who seems to has a slow start to this season hmm.gif

yeah i agree....but there were so many bad ones...grabbi, amoruso, davies, ferguson, dailly, ashley ward...who altogether cost about 30 million pounds...hardly did anything for the club....and Hughes got samba, benni, santa, dunn, roberts for half of that...

I still believe Grabbi would have been a decent player if he was given the chance, but that prick Souness thought otherwise. mad.gif

Favourism? SWP, Lennon and even Beckham would nudge Bentley away easily, and his dropping out of the England U-21 team because of 'fatigue' didn't help his cause. I'd rather him not be in the senior team anyway, let em concentrate on club football, he's one of the best right winger since the days of Ripley.

Its Kevin Gallacher. smile.gif IIRC he was injured during the title winning season, but after his injury he played plenty more because Shearer left the club.

Nowhere in Malaysia. I bought all of mine here in England, and i just snapped another on Ebay. smile.gif

www.rovers-store.com. You can purchase the current seasons kit on there, albeit a little expensive.

I liked that lad too, but he never recovered after his bike accident. Shame because him and David Thompson were both on the verge of getting call ups from the England team. Last i heard he went back to Carlisle Utd to step up his fitness but i don't think he was offered a professional contract. I guess his professional career is just about over.

What a shame. Pure bad luck. He seems to be dogged by injuries even before the accident. It's just one of those things. Same goes to Dunn & Thompson. But at least those 2 are still playing

How ironic that they decide to sell Blackburn kits NOW when i'm not in the country, as oppose to many years before when i was still in Malaysia. What's the price of the kits though? It's less than £30 during Christmas sales, with letter and numbering going for 50p a piece.

Hahaha Stuart Ripley alright... the only outfield player for the team who can't score a goal for nuts!!!

They were one of the few teams that I used to "support" back in the days when Liverpool's average season was finishing in #5 - #7. And Blackburn were the only team to have broken United's winning streak! Of course it also helped that Dalglish was their manager.

If I remember correctly, Blackburn was also the first team that neutrals accused of "buying" the Championship when Jack Walker bought up the club and released the funds for them to buy all the good players. S&S was a great example... and boy I really did love following the team back then... Sherwood, Henningberg, Le Saux, Flowers, Ripley... and the rock solid Colin Hendry!!! We also used to joke that Blackburn were the only team that didn't have a black player then...

None selling in Malaysia, I'm afraid, but Singapore is definitely selling them. Check out this website, recommended as it's fast and reliable as well.

I did follow Blackburn back in 95 when the won the league, even though I was already a Liverpool fan. They were the only team to have managed to dethrone Man Utd, and they contributed to an exciting season with some really good game plays, especially in the final run-up to the season end. They were easily my "2nd team" back then. Unfortunately, the entire team crumbled very soon after winning the league, and they then got relegated.
